I have read in numerous sites that a DSL splitter will increase DSL speed.
Can someone confirm that ?
Will a DSL splitter increase DSL speed?
Every joint in a DSL line will slow you down, as will every extra metre of cable.
That being said, DSL splitters are usually filter / splitters.
If you are using the line for voice calls also, you MUST have a filter on each other device besides the modem so the line doesn't slow or drop when a voice call is made.
An example of my real world experience.
At my shop I have DSL, voice and back to base alarm on the same phone line. For years I had a crap internet connection that would be lucky to ever get to 1Mbps and would drop out on any phone calls. I fiddled with filters and splitters etc and gave up. Then, about 18 months ago I cracked it with the system, and traced the phone line back to the first point it comes to. Turns out that was the alarm system, which was unfiltered. I put a filter on that outlet, and the phone outlet. The modem is on an unfiltered line. I now get 10 - 15Mbps depending on the time of day and it is 100% rock solid.
At my house, I have no filters / splitters on my dedicated line, and it runs great.
