Cocoon

Hi,

Here is a link to a site that is comprehensive about security and privacy matters on the web: http://digital-era.net/

It's technical for the most part and developers could learn a thing or two to help protect ordinary users. But just using a Linux OS and Open-Source apps is helping.

But you can have better privacy on the web by using Cocoon, an addon for Firefox. It's a proxy. After a free registration, you can use it, and it provides better privacy on the web. From what i learned reading the documentation, it's able to protect someone doing bank transactions, even if they are done over a public wifi, not encrypted, such as in a public library.
The name Cocoon is very evocative, in that sense.

I wonder how many of these programs that promise privacy actually have a backdoor? Wouldn't it be embarrassing to add a program for privacy that actually transmits all your info out somewhere...
