How to use Canon MG 2550 wireless printer in Slacko?

#1 Post by Frustrated »

I never used CUPS before. I have an Acer computer running the newest version of Slacko. I'm connected to mini home network totally wirelessly through a Verizon MiFi g4 hotspot--or whatever it is called. My Windows computer talks to the printer with no problem. So did Ubuntu on my Acer computer but I can't seem to get Slacko to do so. Wifi with Slacko and Verizon works great. This is the line when I say show printers: Canon-MG5200-series_00-1E-8F-AA-4C-62 Canon MG5200 series Local Printer Canon PIXMA MG5100 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.7 Can somebody help me push the right button?

I did notice it was showing a MG 5100 printer driver. Redid it so it now shows Canon PIXMA MG5200 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.7 (color, 2-sided printing) as the driver but it still says local printer and does not print with my wireless setup. Just sits there and says Pending.

Thanks for replying. I'm now having trouble even getting onto the internet on that computer--in Ubuntu as well as Slacko so maybe it's just time to give up on the ol' Acer and stay with a better computer. If I figure it out I'll get back to you with the above info and see if we can solve the printing problem. So for now let's just put it on hold. Thanks.

I apologize if I missed it - tried a search.

Just switched from a Canon MG2100-series to a MG-2500-series.

It's a Canon PIXMA MG-2520

It's on Socket: 9100.

What should I use, please?
