Seriously? Which Puppy do I download?
Agreed and he does make a good point! There are so many different puppies that it can be confusing to determine which one(s) to use. In fact, not only for the beginner. The reality is Puppy is not one distro but a combo of all other distros. And most newcomers probably don't understand that if they download a puppy that they don't like, there are plenty of others for them to try. Throw in the PAE, non-PAE, 64bit or 32bit, different install options, different pets with different distros, etc.
After all that, the real answer seems to be "Just pick one and take a shot." That's what I did and after burning 50+ different CD's, I realize that I'm not helping the environment, any but I found a few puppies that I like.

I think it is not newcomer interested from puppy case. Read again the thread author posts, the polite suggestion from 01micko and the answer to his suggestion.
It is not so many puppy download links the reason for someone to register just to write such posts.
I really see nothing wrong with Puppy linux home page:
http://puppylinux.org/main/Download%20L ... elease.htm
Check out Debian Live page for example:
http://live.debian.net/
At least four more pages must be opened to download any iso.
Interesting I can't find such posts about Debian Live.
In my opinion threads starting with first post like this one should stay without answer at all.

Most of linuxland is geekly complicated... they seem to forget their first encounters.
Actually i believe the ops main comment was directed at that last http/ftp page on the server which is most unfamiliar to anyone using yer average webpage plus it includes the devx and other irrelevant files to a noob. (the op is not a noob but trying to convey what it is for one)
My first puppy encounter was a clickable link in blue highlight on a normal webpage telling me its what I needed... was a no brainer for a windows bunny...there is enough to learn without extra confusion.
Just take this thread as a prompt to tidy up puppies web pages as micko has done.
I never did understand why puppy was so spread around...several sites plus a separated forum... where exactly do I go was the though in my head at the time.
To be new user friendly that does have to include the internet presence.
The phrase is constructive criticism... why be good when you can be ace

NO site can beat my winking, panting puppy!
If that doesn't inspire the reader ( ) to read then they can at least amuse themselves by mousing over, mousing off.

Seriously? Which Puppy do I download?
This is an easy one ! RSHs Lazy Puppy 202 because it has all the bells and whistles already installed by RSH and it is supported by the Smokey and his terrific repository. So what else is needed ? Simply put ! more definitive "How to" blurbs instead of post that are loaded with buzzwords and abbreviations that make a new users eyes glaze over, while they retreat.

A couple of years ago i did not even know what Linux even was
I had never heard of it before ! I had only ever used Win-doze my whole life !
I did a google search of " Alt operating systems " because my xp machine was so slow !
Honestly ! When i did that google search i expected a good laugh
Anyway ! i cant remember but I"m sure I didn't put much effort into it and I stumbled across
puppy linux
It took me about 15min of reading http://puppylinux.org/main/Overview%20a ... tarted.htm
and 15min to burn wary 5.2 and my eyes were opened to a new world
Since then ! And i am trying not to exaggerate here
I swear I have gone through almost every linux distro at distrowatch and every one of ally's
collections ! I try every puppy i get my hands on
I have a stack of cd's a with puppies on them that would make you laugh your ass off
Let me tell you my friend ! EVERY SINGLE ONE ! is special
Why you ask ?
My signature tells it all !
The people in THIS FORUM ! are what make this my distro of choice !
From all that develop to the casual user ! everyone's input is important and taken into careful consideration by everyone who makes a puppy
My hat is off to everyone here !
accept ! people like you MARX5 !
15-20 min of patience and a little reading maybe even ask for a little help probably would have changed your life !
I truly believe that those 15min has made me a better person
My many thanks to everyone who has posted in this forum for the cause of what i believe to be the BEST LINUX EVER Because of the people here !
THANK YOU ALL ! For everything !

I have to say mikeb, one of your first comments does hold true. Its quite messy. One has to keep in mind what one has, and which puppy is nearly transparent. It took quite a while for all things to come together for my needs, and its a netbook from 2008/9. My signature bumper says it all, but that was 2013, and just in the nick of time.
N4N, but it does work very well and really is nearly a transparent experience.
