trolCommander filemanager

#1 Post by TrolSoft »

trolCommander - fork of the muCommander (http://mucommander.com) filemanager muCommander. I's a lightweight, cross-platform file manager with a dual-pane interface, tabbed navigation and rich functionality. It runs on any operating system with Java support. It supports multiple virtual systems - FTP, SFTP, SMB, NFS, HTTP, Amazon S3, Hadoop HDFS and Bonjour and can browse, create and uncompress ZIP, RAR, 7z, TAR, GZip, BZip2, ISO/NRG, AR/Deb and LST archives

Unfortunately the muCommander project was abandoned by the autors and not supported since 2012. It lacks such basic and necessary features, such as searching for files. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact the authors, I decided to create my own fork.

The version 0.9.1 released at 21 Jul 2014.

Main features:
  • - Find File dialog.
    - TextArea component replaced to RSyntaxTextArea big files open now much faster, the maximum file size is increased from 1 to 10 megabytes. Syntax highlight available now.
    - Performance improvements - trolCommander starts faster now, file viewer and editor starts faster too.
    - F3 hotkey for directory calculate it size, F4 hotkey shows permission setup dialog
    - Added HEX, PDF and HTML file viewers
    - Improved image viewer. Now supports the following image formats: png, gif, jpg, bmp, wbmp, ico, psd, tga, tiff, pnm, pbm, pgm, ppm, scr.
    - Search history for text and filenames
    - Added calculator (like as in Dos Navigator)
    - Added symlink tools
    - Fixed a lot of issues
The full list of new features and fixes is available on project page: http://trolsoft.ru/en/soft/trolcommander/
The source code is available on github: https://github.com/trol73/mucommander
Issue tracker: https://github.com/trol73/mucommander/issues?state=open

Any ideas, bug-reports and advice would be appreciated.

For several years I have used muCommander since being offered to this community via @RobWoj44's 2010 PET (some minor issues when used in modern PUPs). @Pemasu, @Kirk-@Jamesbond included this in Repos for some of their distros. Nice to see the updates being made available to us.

A single subsystem package with tremendous features built-in.

TrolCommander is a modern replacement for our use.

The source code is available on github
Hi.

Not all users do have a setup to use git/github or to start compiling immediately and/or do have the time to go through all necessary steps to compile Applications from Source Code.

So, why not presenting a Link to an already compiled binary?

At the end of this page there are binaries:
http://trolsoft.ru/soft/trolcommander/?lang=en

Having Java installed, I've downloaded the .jar and works fine.

Haven't tested the others.

Saludos.
