This should fix this (notice that you also need the /mnt/tmpfs4 folder in initrd)
Pls check if possible

Mav, don't forget I'm doing a switheroo of init script in 3builddistro-Z to maintain compat with a standard build puppy. Smile

See woof-code/huge_extras/init.

Just for informational purpose, the latest Tahr release (released today) also has the minor kernel panic/frugal install bug.

OK... I'll push the same change there.
But why not patch or sed the changes instead?

Well done mavrothal. Changes made in init and ydrv now loads and functions, excellent.

Any chance of a pet for the latest Gnumeric (1.12.17)? I know that you prefer the 1.10.xx branch as it's smaller but it'd be nice to have the option to get the latest version. The Salix repo on PPM has 1.12.9 but there isn't the option to examine dependencies (it does list them though).
That's because anything newer than 1.10.xx uses GTK3.

3.4.2! I thought I just compiled 3.4.1 a few days ago ...

I suspect the permission of the /dev/usb/lp0 does not matter when i am root.
Because the permissio on the 571JP is 660 and no problem with root.
You're right, it shouldn't matter. Check permissions on /usr/lib/cups/backend (the directory) and /usr/lib/cups/backnd/* (the files)?

/usr/lib/cups/backend (and /usr/lib/cups/filters) must be 0755.
/usr/lib/cups/backend/* must be 0700 or 0500 (I have it 0700 in Fatdog600 and 0500 in Fatdog 700).

If not, you need more than just chmod 0666 to /dev/usb/lp* (there are a few others you need to chmod to 0666).

All solved Very Happy

(Installed epson_inkjet_printer_escpr-1.4.0.pet for my printer.)
# chmod 500 /usr/lib/cups/backend/*
Restarted CUPS.(Was not needed)
The web interface shows my USB connected EPSON EP-404A on the list of the local printers.
Printing testpage. Success Exclamation

Thanks to all!

EDIT: Did change the permission of the device node and retried.
# chmod 660 /dev/usb/lp0
# ls -l /dev/usb/lp0
crw-rw---- 1 root lp 180, 0 6月 20 2014 /dev/usb/lp0

Removed the previous printer and add new with the same process.
All success.

Thank you shinobar! Does it work too in tahr-pup? EDIT: ok I see it does Smile

If it does then I can add in the 3builddistro stage something like this:

Code:
chmod 0755 rootfs-complete/usr/lib/cups/backend
chmod 0755 rootfs-complete/usr/lib/cups/filters
chmod 500 rootfs-complete/usr/lib/cups/backend/*

The node would have to be done in the running system .. if it's really needed?

666 is ok here Twisted Evil

I think 666 and 660 both ok if the owner group is sane.

Looks really nice. Pleased to see Abiword 3.0.0 - although when I tried to view a docx it showed as rubbish. Couldn't see docx listed in the plugins so I went to the Abiword plugins webpage and it said individual plugins are no longer available - "Note that plugins are not shipped separately anymore, but are shipped in the main AbiWord installer...Plugins can be selected during the installation of AbiWord.".

Maybe the docx box wasn't ticked?

Updated p(av)record apps (mcewanw).
We found and fixed quite important issue that was causing overwriting of /dev/null.
