phpmyadmin 3.3.2 setup asks for a password

can any one help me install phpmyadmin 3.3.2
when i type localhost/phpmyadmin/setup it is asking for password . what should i give
is there any step by step instruction for phpmyadmin 3.3.2

the password to access is set in the apache config for the phpmyadmin folder... i dont have it in front of me but thats the basic idea...in other words is a password protected web page in effect....look for a 'dot' file of some kind.

i got tired and installed webserverpuppy instead

Yeah sorry did get to look in the end and all I found was a user file in the root of the apache2 folder which had user and hashed password. Thing is this was made by a setup script and would not be backward decodable so something must have set up the password in the firstplace.

Just FYI since you now have a working solution.
