How to control VLC in Fatdog using multimedia keys?

#1 Post by neerajkolte »

Hi, I am using Fatdog64-630,

I have a keyboard with multimedia keys.
I have successfully edited Sven multimedia deamon preferances to change other keys.
But I couldn't figure out what commands to enter for controlling VLC from 3 keys Next track, Previous track, Play/Pause.

Is there any VLC plugin for sven??

I searched for controlling vlc from command line some suggest using rc interface. Couldn't follow through (went over my head).

Could any one help???

(Next and Previous Track keys by default say they make screen brighter and darker. This doesn't happen either, just an osd pops up saying Brighter and Darker with no visual effect)

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I noticed right after posting this in Howto(solutions) thread that I have posted in wrong thread.
Thanks to whoever corrected my post and sent this to right thread.

Ahh...
so nobody has any solution or suggestion???

In case somebody is wondering why I don't use Global hotkey option in vlc's preferances menu. I have tried that, doesn't work for multimedia keys.
