Hello Everyone
I have decided to remove FluxPup and will no longer be developing if any further.
There is a major bug when using the save button in the usb stick

Hello Everyone,
Here is some instructions on how to do the adrv and zdrv. When I do my builds I choose to build them in /mnt/home so there will be enough room mb wise.
Make sure that you name them like so adrv_fluxpup_1.5.1 and zdrv_fluxpup_1.5.1 whe doing regular sfs just name them what you want. Here is some pictures. The GUI is very easy to use. This program is pet2sfs by Trio.
Move the adrv or zdrv into the folder that the puppy_fluxpup_1.5.1.sfs is than reboot for the programs to show up in the menu.
Cheers

Hi oldyeller
Done both a frugal and a full install to my old IBM A21m laptop.
Very pleasantly surprised how well FluxPup 1.5.1 runs on such a ram challenged laptop.
Very nicely done - very best regards - Ray

Old Yeller:
Your non-PAE has some nice subtle changes. Near flawless.
I'm curious to see when / if the rest of the community catches on to this one! As you probably guessed, no more garbled menu thanks to the Non-PAE. This one should be an official puppy. Who votes on that, anyway?
Thank you for all your hard work and quality control.
Kindest regards,
Slavvo

You can use a few different programs to do reports with.slavvo67 wrote:I feel foolish to ask but how do I print out my computer stats to share like above?
Hardinfo in the system menu
Pup-Sysinfo in the fluxpup repo
sys-info in the noarch repo
You can also get

Neoware CA19, specs as follows --
VIA Eden 400MHz CPU
VIA CN700 chipset
1gb DDR2 RAM
4gb CompactFlash card as HDD (in CF->IDE adapter)
2x USB ports added (in addition to the existing pair), replacing old LPT port dongle
Local tech shop stuck a fan header on the motherboard (!) where there was an empty place for it.
Heatsinks on CPU, northbridge replaced with heatsink/fan units from eBay
Using Dell AT101W mechanical-switch keyboard and HP PS/2 optical mouse
All components are known good.
Attempted boot from my slim optical drive (Thinkpad slim/laptop IDE DVD burner in eBay USB enclosure) consistently results in hanging at the boot line:
Recognizing media devices... optical... input_
The screen flickers once and the cursor stops blinking. No blinking keyboard LEDs to indicate a kernel panic. I tried it again and it died at the exact same spot, the exact same way. Not sure what's wrong... many other Pups will boot (but not all -- my copy of AnitaOS-nonSMP can't find its main SFS, and errors out to init-ramfs, for example).
Probably it's just weird hardware interacting with software in an unexpected way. The CA19 is, after all, intended as a thin client. More info on it, here --> http://parkytowers.me.uk/thin/neoware/CA19/
Honestly, I only tried it because of Ray MK mentioning his P3 box -- I have a severe bias against any OS that does not include a menu button in the tray but rather insists that the user right-click on the desktop... I don't know why, but I find that idea to be quite annoying...

I killed my puppy save file, again. Have you considered adding Barry's backup utility to Fluxpup? I don't love it but it seems to work well. I'm really starting to get concerned about the stability of pupsave on bootable USB's. Not specific to Fluxpup but in general.
I also had some real problems converting docs to different formats. That, in itself is probably not a result of Fluxpup but there may be an issue with the Print to PDF in Cups. I usually expect PDF to work universally in puppy, other Linux distros and Windows. The PDF created through cups came out unreadable when using PDF Reader in Windows.
Maybe a Fluxpup issue, maybe a Cups issue, maybe a Slavvo issue.

I have not yet killed, corrupt or crashed a save-file on usb or hdd I will how ever try and continue to use my usb flash and see what happens.slavvo67 wrote:I killed my puppy save file, again. The backup utility for FluxPup is beyond me for now will try and look at it and see, maybe this is something that can be put in woof-CE?

As far as CUPS and pdf on other linux and windows I don't use anything else than puppy linux in my house.
Windows is not even allowed to be in my house since it is not play-full for a user. It's puppy or nothing for my house.
On a more serious note I really don't use anything else so I will not be able to help on this issue....sorry.
Yeller,
I've bothered you enough! Fluxpup is good and I hope you continue with other updates in the future.
I keep Windows only because the work I do requires MS Office compatibility. Definitely not my first option! LOL So, I do my work in Puppy and convert. That's where sometimes my issues come into play. I'll work 'em out, as usual. No prob.
Thanks again!
Slavvo

Thanks for the non-pae release. Did a quick manual frugal install on this old box and everything is working well. No problems.
Great job.

PDF Follow-Up
There is, in fact an issue which appears to be in ABI Word 2.9.4 when printing a document to PDF using CUPS. The file will open fine in PDF Viewer 0.1.8 (the Fluxpup default), however Adobe's PDF Viewer in M$ will not open the file. It reads, "Error processing page, bad parameter." For those concerned about compatibility, this is a problem.
This is not the case in Libre 4.2, where Cups-PDF, File-PDF and Export to PDF worked fine in both PDF viewers.
So my best guess after testing is that this is yet another reason not to use ABI Word for any serious work. On a related project, I am in the process of comparing ABI Word's document conversion ability vs. Libre Office.

Kingsoft
Hi, I know it isn't the most lightweight, but I am using Kingsoft Office in a full install. I have a newer NM70I processor with 3gb of ram and it works well. I haven't checked to see if it has a problem as you are describing, but Abiword seems to give lots of small problems like you are describing. Thanks, Rob
Hi all I do have 3 versions of LibreOffice which you can get by going to the SFS-Builder-Downloader and using the sfs-downloader there you will find LibreOffice.sfs.slavvo67 wrote:Not to get off the Fluxpup topic but Kingsoft Office is not the answer if you're looking for cross-compatibility. Still a nice package, though.
Or you can get them from here http://smokey01.com/Oldyeller/pet_packages-fluxpup/
