solved Subject description: thanks - sorry i missed the 450 driver link |
|
sorry for posting on the wrong thread!
Thank you kindly. after installing the driver/pet i deleted & reattached the printer in CUPS & it worked first time. i have been wrestling with this for 3 weeks - not sure how i missed the 450 river link in the thread.
in any case THANKS! PRINTER IS WORKING.
i believe i read that the scanner in the 450 is in-sane, and that i should use the canon scangear package. is that correct?
best regards
lars.
ps - if you still want to know what other packages i tried, i can try to reconstruct, but am guessing its moot now that i can PRINT! pls advise.

MX452 Scanner works fine Subject description: thanks |
|
Thanks again, the scanner came up no problem. i had to tap the power button - apparently it was asleep or something. but once the presence of the scanner was recognized by puppy/scangearmp it worked first try.
if you need me to do any testing for you on this HW, i am willing.
regards
lars.

MX920 and MG5500 Wireless Scanning Subject description: New Scanner Pets |
|
rcrsn51, Thanks again for the two pairs of Pets for Cannon scanning.
Installed pair for MX922, update found scanner and it works wireless great !
Installed pair for MG5520, but update could not find, wonder if installing both sets conflict in some way.

Could you please try the MG5520 as a USB scanner?

Canon MG5520 Pets Subject description: USB Test |
|
rcrsn51, Tried USB on MG5520, not found... But know it can work because I installed pet for borrowed HP C309a Photosmart all in one, and plugged in USB, and it found and works fine.

Try a temporary clean install of Puppy, then install the MG5500 PETs.

Canon MG5520 Scan Pets Subject description: Fresh Puppy Install |
|
rcrsn51, Thanks for suggestion... Fresh Puppy Slacko 5.7 Install, After WiFi, installed the two MG5500 series pets...Canon MG5520 wireless scanning now works !!!
So there must be some conflict... will now go and add other items to see if it keeps working
UPDATE... installing the pair of pets for MX920 series makes the MG5520 to no longer be found, and the MX922 is found and works as before. So seems that both cannot be installed together. I did run update search several times and checked dropdown menu to see if there would be more than one scanner to select, but only one.

Try this. Just install three packages - the common-2.20 PET and the two model PETs. Maybe that will let both units work together.

Canon MX922 and MG5520 together Subject description: Installation of 3 Pets |
|
rcrsn51... with fresh install of Puppy Slacko 5.7, installed Wifi, firewall off, and the three pets as you instructed above... saved, rebooted...
Can now select MX922 or MG5520 from drop down menu, and it will scan correctly... went back and forth between the two several times to verify that it works every time.
Will add other applications, and run more tests... but looks like the newer common Pet supports the MX922 and MG5520 together, and now no conflict.
Thanks !!!
