More Hacked Router brands

#1 Post by NickAu »

Researchers said they have uncovered yet another mass compromise of home and small-office wireless routers, this one being used to make malicious configuration changes to more than 300,000 devices made by D-Link, Micronet, Tenda, TP-Link, and others.

Keeping the router/modem firmware updated is a must. It's pretty easy to do and you shouldn't need windows. You may need to RTFM for your model. Country specifications may apply.

I wasn't aware there was a recent update to my firmware (Jan 2014, last was from 2011) http://au.billion.com/products/wireless ... 800nl.html which is a Billion BiPac 7800nl. Even the GPL'd source is available for my model.

Check your router's website.

I have a DLink DIR-615 Router.
I'd update the firmware, but am worried by the possibility that I mess it up and make the router non-functional.
e.g. I don't know which hardware revision to specify to "select" [B, D, H available].
I don't see anywhere on the hardware that the revision is clearly specified.
[Lots of info on the bottom, but doesn't include a hardware revision]
Hmm, it does say "H/W Version: D4".
