Lupu freezes while booting
Lupu freezes while booting
I'm booting lupu 5.2.8, and it keeps freezing on the ISO Linux screen. I can tweak some options in the BIOS (Enable Boot Menu, Network Boot, Recovery, stuff like that) and get it to boot, but after I reboot, that particular configuration no longer works, and I need to change all those options again to get it to boot. Is there a permanent solution to this?

Saladin,
You have given no information to go on. We need details. To start: What is your computer - desktop, laptop? Is it new, is it old? Processor speed, how much memory, video card, hard drive? Etc. Do you simply boot from the CD into RAM; or is this a frugal install?
If the newly applied configuration in the BIOS is saved but does not hold - by any chance is the computer's clock showing the wrong date - is the internal battery dead? Otherwise, there is a whole host of possibilities to go wrong! Is the CD good - or is it perhaps corrupted?

The BIOS configuration does hold -- it's just that the right configuration for one boot somehow isn't the right configuration for the next. The clock does maintain the correct date. The big battery that lets you use the laptop when it's not plugged in is going bad, but the little internal battery seems to be working fine.
Maybe CD drive problem.
Run a cleaning disk in it.
Check for dust bunnies.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
