Weather Radar Not Showing (SOLVED)

#1 Post by Mercedes350se »

I am using a frugal HDD install of 4.1.2.

Nothing shows when I visit this, or any radar, site. What is the problem? How to fix?

Weather Radar Not Showing

What do you see if you you go to the BOM website?

http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR553.loop.shtml

There is a note on that page which says:

*This is a part-time windfinding radar which has routine periods when "weather watch" coverage is not available: See availability table.

Mercedes350se,
By any chance do you have either Flashblock or NoScript enabled in your browser?
It's hard to know what is expected - or how the screen represents a radar image - 'if' I've never seen the website before but, by allowing Noscript access to the primary website, the enclosed image was visible. Is this what you expect to see?
At the moment I'm using Puppy 4.2 v2 with the standard Seamonkey 1.1.15

It worked for me just as for Fossil. The web page just takes a long time to load.

That loads as expected as do any other radars that I tried on the BOM site.

No. I had so much trouble with them in the early days I do not use either. Yes that is what I expect to see.

I should add that I am using an automatically updated to 2.25.seamonkey - I thought I had turned updates off!

FWIW it doesn't load on the ODROID U3 with Ubuntu either.

EDIT: Just tried with my 5.2.8 - Firefox 3.6.28 - install and it works perfectly. How do I find out what is required/missing in 4.1.2?

Mercedes350se. Today, I'm currently running a Puppy 4.1.2 Retro frugal install. When I configure NoScript to allow the Wagga-wagga site, it shows in the Seamonkey 1.1.11 browser. So I'm guessing your browser upgrade has something installed which inhibits the javascript elements.

This site confirms I have javascript enabled for the browser so I am somewhat confused.

So you didn't have cookies enabled, and enabling them made the problem go away?
