corrupted .jwmrc-tray

#1 Post by fixit »

For my pendrive,

I corrupted .jwmrc-tray and I don't have any menu on the bottom.

I tried copying the one from my hard drive, but it doesn't work.

Copy back the original version from your main puppy file: /initrd/pup_ro<number>/root/.jwmrc-tray

Assumes that you use a frugal install.
<number> in my case is 2, might be different for you. Look for the one that is mounted.

Better and easier is to delete the bad file /initrd/pup_rw/root/.jwmrc-tray

And then in rxvt run: jwm -reload

Hmmm....easier? Sure, but better? I find it safer to direct users, who edit their setup files without knowing what they are doing and without making backups, to the indestructible /initrd/pup_ro rather than let them do more havoc in /initrd/pup_rw/
And then in rxvt run: jwm -reload
It's jwm -restart.

Now be nice. I knew what I was doing.

And Puppy already had a backup but it did not work.

I would run in terminal “jwm -p" (no quotes) and see what it shows as the faults.

Kal is right, that`s the first action to take.

My thought was remove the bad copy in the Save file and the save it takes up.

That means the files internal syntax is sound.
