it is just not enough to use Firefox with Adblock Plus, Ghostery, flashblock, noscript, request policy, and random user agent spoofer to protect your privacy. I use Privoxy (with some extra things blocked) and tor together with FoxyProxy basic, but I have discovered another tool: PeerBlock.

Copyright cartels like to download movies from bittorent sites, but it is not for the movies. that's right, they use them for harvesting IP adresses. Peerblock is great for use with p2p clients, but I like laso using to block Ads, trackers, spyware, universities, etc.

I was suprised to find many things in Peerblock when browsing on many sites.

PS: When using a proxy when browsing, nothing shows up in the window, but if i browse 'unprotected', i find many things get blocked.

PS: A proxy and a program like this is no replacement for a VPN that protects your privacy. I plan on getting a one of the VPNs from TorrentFreak's list of VPNs that are good.

(I know i sound like i am 'advertising', but I love peerblock.)

I want to ask you though if there something like that for Linux?

Akita (and puppy arcade) has privoxy, peerblock, VPN, and other tools , all combined into the Internet Security Helper... as well as FF17-ESR, which has ghostery and other stuff by default...
