Suspend function or other for noisy fan?

I'm trying Wary 5.5 on an old HP lap top. The lap top has a really noisy cooling fan. (At least, I believe it is a fan.) The fan stays on even when the screen saver is on and the system is idle. Does Puppy have any kind of timed suspend function or something else that I could activate to get rid of the noise when the system is not in use? With Windows, the fan would not say on all of the time when idle. I believe this was true with Ubuntu also. I can't even find the screen saver settings in Wary.
