I'm looking for a pet that provides xprop to Fatdog64-630.

If there isn't any such thing, would anybody know how else I can add xprop?

I've got a script that would use it to automate changing the wallpaper on
desktop area switch. It's the only thing that makes me {almost} wish Fatdog went
with E17 like macpup did... Though as far as I know Fatdog is the only
Derivative that handles "Secure Boot" {a must for a portable flash drive
system...} And except for the wallpaper switching, I've come to like openbox
better.

In a thread about openbox background switching, I mentioned wanting to
know this. But I think it got lost in the shuffle -or- nobody knew the
answer:

I Know I said my previous example worked on fatdog. But actually, I'd only
tested the "wallpaper path/imagefile" part of it there. I've just
discovered that neither of my Fatdog64-630 installations have xprop
installed...

Anybody know what pet includes it???

Hi...

I'm not sure if it helps but I found this source file for Fatdog. However, I would have no idea how to turn it into a .pet or anything usable. Sad

There is also a package for ARM here.

Regards...

Huh? xprop is in base Fatdog. It's located in /usr/X11R7/bin/xprop.
PS: aardvark, thanks for helping, but don't use that ARM binary; that binary is meant for ARM platform not x86-64 (Fatdog64).

AhHa! I found the problem... I don't know how this happened but:

Code:

 ~/tmp
PuppyUnderTree#-> xprop -root _NET_CURRENT_DESKTOP
bash: xprop: command not found
 ~/tmp
PuppyUnderTree#-> echo $PATH
/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/local/bin:/root/bin
 ~/tmp
PuppyUnderTree#->

editing... New Shell!

Code:

~
PuppyUnderTree#-> xprop -root _NET_CURRENT_DESKTOP
_NET_CURRENT_DESKTOP(CARDINAL) = 1
 ~
PuppyUnderTree#->

All things considered, it's a wonder things worked as good as they did... In any case, it's all good now!

Thanks!

Cool, glad it works. Please mark this thread solved, if you would. Smile

@jamesbond: Thanks, I figured as much but I thought I would include the ARM version in case it helped in any way. Smile

I most certainly would... It sometimes takes a day or two for me to get around to it, But when I consider one of my threads solved, I do so mark it...

By the way, the command PATH has now been fixed on all three of my Fatdog flashdrives... And as a result, all three have a separate background image for each desktop area...
