Here is a list of qt apps that I have running in XPrecise, a large number of the file downloads are duplicated,

these are listed to only show the files needed for each application, so if you download a number of them be aware

that you needn't download them twice.

Let me know if you have a problem with them running, I have tried these a few times and all seem to work ok.

My favorites are Nomacs and Hotshots for working with images, Nomacs is the default image viewer in Carolina.

Hope you like them.

I love this Puppy. Everything I love about Carolina and none of the things I don't care for from Precise 571. The best of both worlds. Great work. Thanks!

Thanks, glad you like it. There is also X-slacko based on slacko-5.6 which is basically the same as X-precise but it also has a dedicated repo thanks to 01micko.

@sszindian

I can have a look at the latest seamonkey but it will have to wait for a bit, I've decided to do updates for X-precise and X-slacko.

I added the only Gigolo package I found in the repository , which installed without error, but no menu entry. It works fine if run from terminal, but crashes if launched from Thunar's browse network function. Even if I have to launch it from terminal, I still like it better than other options that I have tried. Before I spend time figuring this out, has anybody already solved this issue?

I noticed in the release notes or this thread or somewhere, that adrv was available for xprecise 2.2, but I didn't see an adrv file after downloading the ISO. Love this puppy nonetheless, but wondering if I am missing something.

All on board :D Simplegtkradio http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=90842 is a tiny but very sweet treat I add to X-precise.
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.

Does anybody know what the latest version of Handbrake is that will work with xprecise? And where to get it? I have been looking around and while I can find some handbrake pets, but nothing in the repository and certainly not the latest version 0.9.9. This version solves a number of issues, so I hear. I would be happy if I could find 0.9.8. Does anybody have one of these working?

@canV8

The gigolo from Carolina repo works in X-precise, you just have to change category in the .desktop file to Network and it will show in the menu.

X-precise has adrive support but no adrive included. You can build your own with the X-adrive builder in Control Panel > System. It doesn't do a dep check so make sure you know what deps are needed for your packages.

I've had no luck finding Handbrake, one that works anyway. I tried a 0.99 deb but had lots of missing libs.

Thanks for all the apps.

Happy to see my favorite of favorites puppy x-precise is so active.

But even if it is quiet, x-precise is still great and not much problem to report about.

Yes, I did have problem with frisbee disconnecting. But after i switch over to simple network setup, no more problem of disconnecting.

Everything works well and I even have compiz installed but only turn it on when I feel like impressing someone with what puppy can do or when I feel the desire to experience some zooming.

Edit: Repackaged Whisker, fixed screen lock command and removed files and folders leftover from compiling.

Fix crash when rearranging favorites
Fix menu flashing when panel button is pressed rapidly
Fix unable to click command buttons when focus follows mouse
Fix panel button icon alignment in deskbar mode
Translation updates: Arabic, Asturian, Chinese (Taiwan), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Finnish, Latvian, Nepali, Norwegian Bokmål, Portuguese (Brazil), Slovenian, Vietnamese
Here is Whisker, it's a xfce panel plugin that is a replacement applications menu.

I downloaded it from the git and edited the source to reassign the log-off user button, which is now configured to run xfce theme manager if it is installed,

also changed the title text, it did display the user name which in puppy's case is "root", XPrecise looks better, reconfigured the settings to how it looks in the image and set them as default.

Features are right-click a menu entry, add to favorites, add to desktop, add to panel, or drag the item to the location also works.

The favorites aren't the same as normal menu fav's, but are bookmarks under a different name, these can also be alphabetically sorted.

It does have one bug that I found, if a favorite is dragged and not dropped on the desktop or panel it can crash, but it's not that bad as it gives a popup asking if to restart it.

This git version is better than the released one, as it has the option to position the categories next to the panel button.

A big thanks for this one, Geoffrey! :D

Although I'm on Carolina 1.1, your Whisker menu .pet installed and is working, seemingly, perfectly. (Aside from the "XPrecise" title that I'm sure I'll be able to change via a config file somewhere)

I can't believe it, actually - I just tonight discovered Whisker menu while reading a Distrowatch-linked review of MakuluLinux Xfce. Saw this super-nice menu in the screenshot, did a little Googling to see what Whisker's all about (easily tweakable, Favorites and Recently Used entries... and a handy search feature! :) ), and thought "dang... this would be a perfect addition to Carolina". Next visit was to here at the Puppy forums, and BAM! - here it is!! :D

Although there's absolutely nothing wrong with Xfce's simple, functional LXDE/JWM-like menu system, I always thought it was just a bit behind the "higher-class" functionality and look of the rest of Xfce, in general. Whisker menu just sets it off perfectly. Good stuff!!

Thanks Bob, I have had it for a week or so, first in Carolina to try it out, it did need a few changes made to make it compatible,

it's certainly more configurable than what we have at present.

As for the " XPrecise " title, that is hard coded with no way to change it, but I do have one for carolina,

I'll post that at some point when I sort out what I'm doing in regard to the favorites.

You'll find that the screen lock won't work in carolina with the one I posted, all you need do though is in preferences set it to run " Xlock ".

Edit2 I recompiled the theme turning off some features that were causing problems, all seems good now.

rg,
can you please send me a link to the 0.9.9 deb of handbrake that you tried. I would like to see if I can hunt down the missing libs. I have a feeling I have already hunted down most of them for Acid Rip, which I got out of the Ubuntu repository. Also the ppm has oodles of gstreamer libs and plugins, but no gstreamer, is that right?
