Readers can form their own opinions here:

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/keepod-unite

This is interesting, and maybe an area that Puppy Linux could do even better in. For example, doesn't Puppy Linux need less than 1/4 of the RAM to run?
So older and cheaper laptops could be used.

Are there paid staff involved in this project? This would contrast with the unpaid, and presumably largely unfunded volunteers that have made Puppy Linux the greatest linux distro on the planet..

Maybe Puppy Linux could take a page from this book and promote Puppy in a similar way. Competition is after all, a good thing.

Good intention but I'm not sure whether that's on target. There have been tons of USB-bootable Linux suitable for this (other than Puppy) - I remember using this from long time ago (before my Puppy days), for example - http://www.dynebolic.org/

In fact, like foggy says - why not just take Puppy Linux, add Chrome, and remaster?

Do not forget the half dozen social networking sites preloaded with spam and spy where. The bootable flashdrive comes with that. What is different is that there is other hardware embedded in flashdrive..
so you can go wireless networking even if empty shell computer does not support it.

This is one good approach to turn what is done in this forum into something that a poor community (or any depraved community) would benefit.

BarryK approach an Indian Education representative several years ago in an effort to offer PUPPY as a means to packaging and inspiring technology in disadvantaged communities in Indian. But, he was turned back.

Still there's hope.
