Toshiba l30 - Atheros wifi problem

#1 Post by fobq »

hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite l30m100 notebook and Puppy Precise 5.7.1 (frugal)
There was always a problem with wifi connection: it worked just disconnected at least once in every hour. But now, I can not connect either. What could have happened?

the Network Setup senses the interface and driver (ath5k)

Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR2413/AR2414 Wireless Network Adapter [AR5005G(S) 802.11bg] (rev 01)

The wired connection is good.

Hi...

What error message(s) are you getting (if any) and are you able to see your network? Does restarting (unplugging the power source for about 20-30 seconds) your modem/router help the issue at all?

Yes, Toshiba L30M100, however I don't find this model either, only L30-113.

I am getting no error message. Today I could connect by wifi again. During the nigth I always turn the charger off. Probably, it solved the problem, but I think, it will occour again. During writing this post wifi dropped again.

Code: Select all

Wireless Connection and Frisbee problems
- Which one of them would you recommend me? Changing wifi channel number? I use wlan0

Charger? The typical router or modem I usually deal with is connected to a steady supply of power,..you don't turn them off. What are you connecting to precisely?

Hi...

Do the solutions offered by cthisbear, including this one, help any? The program listed on that page, inSSIDer, only works for Windows. however, you can try a Linux substitute here. :)

I downloaded the linssd_2.1.tar.gz file, but after extracting what to do? There is no executable file and ./configure make and make install do not work. I am very confused of archive files.
I left a post here as well: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 057#746057

Hi...

There's a couple hints over at their forum, although it would probably be more helpful if you asked wseverin directly for help. :)
