With regard to the current discussion on the missing AM/PM on some setups, I have some additional information. I've just been checking the second experimental save I made for testing the new resizing code in Slacko 5651 and noticed that the AM/PM is still there.

For this save, I made a slight change from my normal setup and explicitly set 1280x1024@60Hz as the res. This is quite flickery sometimes on this ViewSonic E70fSB monitor so I normally use 1024x768 which will either be at the best setting of 85Hz or the 75Hz that Puppy usually defaults to on my setup.

What's odd is that the clock truncation I previously reported on other saves hasn't occurred on this save. It still didn't happen when I dropped to the prompt and ran Xorgwizard, or when I ran QuickSetup again and chose 1024x768@85Hz again.

I may be getting the wrong end of the stick, but is it possible that the fact I normally don't explicitly select a resolution in the QuickSetup wizard is somehow a factor?

SFS Manager

#222 Post by SFR »

I just noticed a bug report about sfs_mgr: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=91037
It's similar problem as with PPM: https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/pull/291

Thanks!

Seems an attribute addition is a good fix from here... I don't think there is any need of resizing or sorting...

Code: Select all

<tree column-header-active="false|false|false" column-resizeable="false|false|false">
Might be the same for Updates Manager too..

Resize personal file

#224 Post by rodin.s »

Something wrong with resizing of personal files. I cannot increase size of my personal file. Text file "resizepfile" is created but is ignored while booting. I have created another one and I can resize newly created one and cannot resize the old one. I don't understand what is going on.

Someone should test gimp-painter with Slacko.
I tested Slacko 5.6

I am working on that now. There will be a new mechanism, making a file pupsaveresizenew.txt so it doesn't clash with older pups. It works differently and will only resize the file that the save is intended for, to be released soon.

ExMplayer (Extended Mplayer) has gotten some good reviews.

Question
  • Could anyone PET this for the REPO?

Try this one:
http://ul.to/i4nwc64f

But don't overlook SMplayer (today compilation from SVN)
http://ul.to/31p53kfg

Built on Slacko 5.6.5.1. Both need QT 4.8.2 or higher.

Good luck.

Next alphas are released as deltas (might be confusing :!: )

If you have been keeping up you'll be ok.

When new kernels are released there will be new versions with NO deltas. Probably next week.

However, these versions do need testing, in particular
  • -save files, resizing
    -snapmerge (USB installs mostly)
-pet uninstallation (especially in full and USB installs)
The usual stuff.

See main post.

(get slacko-5.6.5.iso FIRST .. apply the slacko-5.6.5.iso___slacko-5.6.5.1.iso.delta , then get and apply slacko-5.6.5.1.iso___slacko-5.6.5.2.iso.delta )
I'm not sure this can work.
5.6.5.1 iso will always have a different md5sum because of the differences in the time stamp.
See screeny.
You may want a 5.6.5 to 5.6.5.2 delta

It would possibly be useful if the PAE version had 'PAE' in the iso and delta filenames. Slightly different version number from non-PAE is a touch non-obvious.

I use the PAE version on the Pentium D, even though it's only got 2GB of RAM at the moment. Main reason is the XP install says it's using it and who am I to argue with Microsoft?

Try again, sorry. Timestamp should not be an issue, but it seems something is, not sure what. Should work now.

Jades, you'll have to live with it for now, I don't have any bandwidth at the moment. I'll rectify things next week.

Yes. The new delta is OK.

In addition this version should also solve the full-install shutdown issue reported earlier by sage and majorfoo
Please test that too.

BTW, Zigbert's work with the icon set and dialogs is impressive.
Maybe add a more "modern" wallpaper to match this

Manual frugal install of non-PAE to HDD. Savefile from last version updated, but network interfaces (wired or wifi) and sound not working. Rebooted with pfix=ram and all ok. Installed amigo's src2pkg 2.9.1 and this is the first time (on any Slacko I've tried) that libsentry (one of the helper packages) would compile. Its a header thing apparently.

Made a 128mb savefile, rebooted then upped it by 32mb. No problems on reboot.

Ziggy's done a fine job on the icons etc.

Hmm, having some problems with installing pets in PUPMODE=13.
Only directories and symlinks are being created, but not files themselves.
The previous version of installpkg.sh (from 5.6.4) works ok...

Unfortunately, I do not have the setup to test that currently.
Would it be possible to replace

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
with

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh -x
exec 1> /root/install_log 2>&1
in /usr/local/petget/installpkg.sh
and send/post the install_log file?

Sure, no problem - fresh install in VBox (128M slackosave.2fs), pfix=ataflash to enforce PUPMODE=13, trying to install Fun/Pipepanic, the attached is real .gz.

Thanks &
