Billtoo,
That is strange that you get the popup every time that you start SeaMonkey. I have tested that, and it only came up once.
There is a script, /usr/bin/seamonkey, that destroys itself after the first run, replacing itself with a symlink to /usr/lib/seamonkey/seamonkey.
Well, you can probably fix it by forcing a symlink, like this:
Code: | # ln -snf /usr/lib/seamonkey/seamonkey /usr/bin/seamonkey |

This looks promising - time to dig out those SDcards and the Asus 701SD 7“ laptop.
Is it easy to change the setup script / instructions so that 4gig SDcards might be used?
(Will eliminate the shopping trip for 8gig SD cards)
Hope to use one of the faster mirrors for download soon.
Does anyone know of a good guide that explains in simple noob terms - how one goes about booting Q6 or any other puppy when using a W8 crippled laptop with UEFI ?
Have access to one for about a week - then it has to go back.
Thank you BarryK for sharing your quirky idea’s with us - I (we) think they are brilliant - thanks again.

However, I will probably release some incremental upgrades, with improvements. Besides, there are still a lot of items in my "goals" list that are not yet green!
So, don't bother much with reporting bugs to my news page, or if you do, don't hold your breath waiting for a fix. There is likely, however, to be a group of users who will cooperate to fix any issues -- any such forum thread I will announce on my news page.
So, keep watching my news page for future developments: |

I applied your fix for the Seamonkey popup and it worked.
I made a few pets and find the the new2dir takes a long time to create
a pet.

SD card lock |
|
Billtoo....At the risk of asking the most stupid question of the year....Will Quirky 6.0 run with your SD card in the "locked" position? I guess "no" is the answer but I can hope...would provide a "kiosk" mode similar to what one can obtain running most pups from a frugal install to SD . Thanks....KJ

Good to know.
I downloaded and installed 5.99 and the wireless didn't work, only to discover there was a page two on the thread with 6.0 released yesterday.
Too much work on the hard drive today for other reasons. Will report tomorrow.

Ray MK,
At first I did create a 4GB image, but then I went to my local shopping mall and found the minimum size in all the shops is 8GB.
So, I decided that is to be the minimum.
Billtoo,
Your SeaMonkey popup problem has me extremely puzzled.
The script /usr/bin/seamonkey destroys itself, I don't see how it ca fail to do so.
I guess that I will just have to put in some extra code so that it makes sure that it does definitely destroy itself and create the symlink.
Were all of those PETs compiled in Quirky 6.0?
I will setup an FTP url for you to upload them to. Perhaps those definitely compiled in Q6 can be put into 'pet-quirky6' repo, the others, tested as working, could go i a different repo, maybe 'pet-common'.
