That option doesn't work to me -- error dialog: file exists (What file? The folder is empty ). The symlink at /root to /mnt/home/Copy was the only way to get it to use my HD space. And it must be a relative link, otherwise I get the same dialog. I made a symlink to /mnt/home/Copy into /root so that I'm able to use my hard disk instead of my save file.
Copy is a nice cloud service, it deserves a place in our Puppies!
vicmz (and others), fwiw, if you right click the icon in the task bar and select preferences, you get an option to place the folder wherever you want.
Copy (cloud service similar to Dropbox)

Unload the app, delete the /root./copy folder, reload the app and set it up as you wish! That worked for me when i got the same message...vicmz wrote:That option doesn't work to me -- error dialog: file exists (What file? The folder is empty ). vicmz, i set the location of the folder during installation, so i can't confirm whether that button works to change it on my set ups either. well, i can vouch it worked on one laptop with 5.7.1.vicmz wrote:That option doesn't work to me -- error dialog: file exists (What file? koulaxizis, is there any advantage to upgrading from 1.35 to 1.37? any preferred method for upgrading?

I suppose that the best method is to unload the old sfs and load the new one. However, i haven't noticed any important differences, if your current client works good, don't change it!Puppus Dogfellow wrote:koulaxizis, is there any advantage to upgrading from 1.35 to 1.37? any preferred method for upgrading?

too late (on one.) i'm sure it's just a matter of uninstalling and reinstalling, but pet over pet usually works pretty well--didn't in this case. it's a full install and i used the sfs load program afterward, but still only got the icon opening the folder (which was better than the error message about sql something not working or not being found or...).koulaxizis wrote:I suppose that the best method is to unload the old sfs and load the new one. so i'll uninstall all traces of it and reinstall the newer one to see if it works as well for me as the older one. only complaint i had with it was its resource usage compared to dropbox and spideroak as it didn't seem like it was doing anything much different or differently than those two programs. the machine it's messed up on now only has a gig of ram so it'd be worth it to check if that's the improvement they made. can always go back to the earlier version. maybe refer myself to myself and pick up another five gig of storage...

It's resource-hungry in comparison to dropbox but you have several other benefits. From the simplest (desktop notifications and nice web interface) to the most important (huge space & fair sharing).Puppus Dogfellow wrote:too late (on one.) i'm sure it's just a matter of uninstalling and reinstalling, but pet over pet usually works pretty well--didn't in this case. it's a full install and i used the sfs load program afterward, but still only got the icon opening the folder (which was better than the error message about sql something not working or not being found or...).koulaxizis wrote:I suppose that the best method is to unload the old sfs and load the new one. Refer yourself, your parents, your friends, your kids, we all did the same thing!

Re: Copy (cloud service similar to Dropbox)
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the pet didn't work. I get an entry in the Internet menu but clicking it doesn't do anything.koulaxizis wrote:"Copy" seems like a nice alternative to Dropbox and similar services. I have just tried it and works fine, i'll create a pet for the client soon...
I'm running Racy 5, could that be the reason?
hi kwhitefoot
quite possibly ........ a lot of modern stuff won't run on racy.... try typing in a terminal. see what it says.
Note: you can still use copy through just the browser

Re: Copy (cloud service similar to Dropbox)
I repackaged "Copy" with a glibc hack that was used for Slimboat and few other apps, I have it running in Carolina which is based on Wary/Racy which has glibc 2.10, try this it should work for you.kwhitefoot wrote:

Edit:
the only thing I found that don't work is when it calls external apps via xdg-open, that would be for the web browser, but other than that it seems ok I can login, sync a folder anywhere on my system share folders, pretty much all that is needed, don't mater if the browser don't run though, here's the error.
Code: Select all
/usr/bin/xdg-open: symbol lookup error: /usr/share/copy/libstdc++.so.6: undefined symbol: _ZNSt8messagesIcE2idE, version GLIBCXX_3.4

I wonder why pups seem to use glibc one version behind what is common in the lunix world... or am I suffering one of my turns again...
2.6.1 rather than 2.7, 2.10 rather than 2.11 and perhaps there's more... always feel slightly out of step in puppy land... Lucid not included
(yesterday got the version of mplayer and ffmpeg from Lucid working in puppy 4.12 (for that vp8 crap mainly) apart from guess what...needing glibc 2.7)

Copy glibc211
@Geoffrey
Thanks, works great. Doesn't open either the web page or the local folder but that's no problem.

Ok the copy website seems to be another one of those that produces blank pages as its using javascript only rendering...firefox 3.6 and opera 10 and IE7 in online renderer (its mentioned in the script).
System update for browser update to view a web page..hmm.
Wonder what other methods of web access are affected (mobiles?)
