I experience the same with my SD card install (gotta leave the card in) but on dual core amd and 4 gig of ram I am not noticing any speed issues. In fact. It runs like a raped ape.
Besides, I don't need the slot for anything else as I have a pendrive sd card adapter if needing that slot.
I don't know if that is normal or not cimmaron. Since it is not a big issue for me.

Iguleder says it "must be a bug." As you say, though, it still does run pretty fast, even if not in RAM. Maybe I prefer it this way since it boots so much faster. (I think it does load into RAM when booted from CD.)
Also, because I don't remember seeing this in this thread, I had to install a fix for the Network Wizard to get it to run. The fix was offered on BK's blog just before GuyDog was released: Network Wizard bugfix. I'll attach the pet here as well:

I haven't been able to find devx either. Iguleder says he doesn't have a copy anymore.

Wow, thanks deepsea! It would be great to get those in a public repository. Maybe you could get ally to upload them to the puppy linux section at archive.org.
Here's the GuyDog page already started (but missing the sources and devx): https://archive.org/details/PuppyLinuxguydog-5.0.1

What great service we get around here! Thanks so much to both of you.
(And thanks to rokytnji for asking again--I'd given up on this...)

Thank you and sfs-load-on-the-fly implemented. Thank you also everyone else in this thread from the maintainer to the support folks.
On a side note. I got mlocate working. Used the package manager debian squeeze package in Utilities.
Code: | sh-4.2# mlocate tint2
/etc/xdg/tint2
/etc/xdg/tint2/tint2rc
/initrd/pup_ro2/etc/xdg/tint2
/initrd/pup_ro2/etc/xdg/tint2/tint2rc
/initrd/pup_ro2/root/Startup/tint2.sh
/initrd/pup_ro2/usr/bin/tint2
/initrd/pup_ro2/usr/share/tint2
/initrd/pup_ro2/usr/share/tint2/default_icon.png
/initrd/pup_rw/root/.config/tint2
/initrd/pup_rw/root/.config/tint2/tint2rc
/initrd/pup_rw/root/.config/tint2/tint2rcbk1
/initrd/pup_rw/root/.config/tint2/tint2rcbk2
/root/.config/tint2
/root/.config/tint2/tint2rc
/root/.config/tint2/tint2rcbk1
/root/.config/tint2/tint2rcbk2
/root/Startup/tint2.sh
/usr/bin/tint2
/usr/share/tint2
/usr/share/tint2/default_icon.png

It would not work until I did in terminal
Code: | /etc/cron.daily/mlocate |
Quote: | to create the database, otherwise mlocate won't work until that script is run from cron itself (since mlocate does not use the same database file as standard locate) |
from
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/mlocate
I have it working though I am missing these dependencies after the previous dependency install.
