Thanks James
The OS is of little importance. The fact that it boots and does pretty much everything it's supposed to do is the key that woof is doing it's job; and that is build a Puppy distro.
I'd say we are up and away. Long live woof-CE!

Thanks guys,
Yeah James found the problem, couple more broken symlinks. Thanks for that, pushing fix now.
Not worried about getflash, I believe adobe changed paths or something on their servers, not woof related.

Hi Mick,
Video-Info 1.5.1 - Sat 16 Nov 2013 on Slacko Puppy 5.6.0.5 - Linux 3.10.19 i686
Chip description:

oem: Intel(r) 82945GM Chipset Family Graphics Chip Accelerated VGA BIOS
product: Intel(r) 82945GM Chipset Family Graphics Controller Hardware Version 0.0
X Server: Xorg Driver used: intel
X.Org version: 1.12.4

So far it works great for what I have seen booted with no problems on Dell D430. Looks real solid!!

100% success with Broadcom-STA and Compiz |
|

I'm uploading the first test build now,....Ok here it is, .....
Kernel source is there too if you need modules, also use the slacko-5.6(.0) devx with the latest kernel_headers package installed (also there). |
Hi Mick
100% success testing here....
Installed LxPup-by-SFS + Compiz on top as I figured that would be a good test - all as expected + WBar activated as well.
Also compiled Broadcom-STA wl.ko driver for k3.10.19 - also 100% success (pet available if you want it but guess this is just a "stepping stone" build).
BTW - this is a Slacko build comment rather than Woof-CE - but /lib/modules still has the k3.4.17pae version of wl.ko which shouldn't be there....
Great step forward I think.
Cheers

Thanks Peter,
Yeah I didn't take any care whatsover in the slacko build, just updated the kernel, added pmusic/pburn and that's it. Somehow missed the frisbee tray icon but like I said, it was just a rush job to test woof.
James found the only woof bug so far and it's fixed now. Probably a conflict because that was Barry's last commit to woof2 (fossil).
EDIT: just dawned on me that I didn't have that last fossil commit (last 2 actually).. so that's why those links were missing! (also ones for the new video mime, see BK's blog for details).
Cheers

01micko,
This icewm folder seems to be a leftover from olden days.
Not a big deal, but it gets written to.
Please, consider it a bug ... and give me some bragging rights

Wow, the progress is faster than I thought!
A quick test run on a real HW - on the first sight everything seems to be ok.
@Mick: well, surely you already know about this, but just to confirm - those two problems from k3.10.5 (Kingston & internet sharing) are 100% fixed in this build, so thanks a lot!
Ok, I have to swich back to 5.6, 'coz CPU temp is getting dangerously high (Vbox to the rescue).
Greetings!

I compared the Hardinfo benchmarks of this pc between Slacko 5605 and
the amd64 version of Debian 7.2
Both distros run well on this pc.

Yeah, Mick , I should do .
But am a little unsure how to do this :
I would try with whatever git command to pull the main (master ?) repo into my local repo on the current partition , that likely would overwrite my files (?) and after that pull in my fork into my local repo on the current partition, that would overwrite the files overwritten by the merge of the main repo ..

I'm assuming you haven't created any branches or commited anything.
Code: | git diff #check if anything has been changed
#if you did change something, save it.
git checkout -b local
git commit -a -m "My changes"
git checkout master
git checkout -b upstream #create and check out a new branch, named "upstream"
git pull git://github.com/... master #download and merge
|
If all goes well, you should be able to merge "upstream" into "local".
Ask for details if that's not clear enough.

HI mick,
Tried to download woof-CE.
This is what I got from terminal
Cloning into 'woof-CE'....
error: Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?) while accessing https
://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/info/refs
fatal: HTTP request failed.
Although I did put in this
Quote: |
FYI, just this minute I merged testing to master so you can clone the repo as usual.
Code:
git clone https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE
|
Any Ideas?
EDIT: This is my first attempt with git. Do I need to setup git before I can do this? I am in the process of reading about git now.

Probably a good idea to set up and configure git.
In the short term: Code: | git config --global http.sslVerify false |
That should work.
Other wise, go to the site and grab the tarball.
