Anybody have a devx.sfs link for the Puppy?
Looking through the thread All I found were working links to the iso.
Kernel Headers and devx.sfs are gone.
Still a fresh install but I am building it up slowly. Running it off of a 128MB SD flash card.
Code: | sh-4.2# cd .packages
sh-4.2# ls
builtin_files Packages-puppy-5-official
DISTRO_COMPAT_REPOS Packages-puppy-lucid-official
DISTRO_PET_REPOS Packages-puppy-quirky-official
DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS Packages-puppy-slacko-official
flashplayer11-11.2.202.280.files Packages-puppy-wary5-official
gconv-fix-0.0.1.files PKGS_HOMEPAGES
glib12-1.2.10.files PKGS_MANAGEMENT
gtk+12-1.2.10.files rox-filer_2.10.files
lxterminal-0.1.9-i686.files sfs_load-1.4.files
Packages-debian-squeeze-main user-installed-packages
Packages-puppy-2-official vte-0.26.2-i686.files
Packages-puppy-3-official woof-installed-packages
Packages-puppy-4-official xmms-1.2.11.files
|
I went with this because I needed something small yet powerful to
fit on the 128MB SD flash card.

rokytnji,
In case no one has PM'd you, Pemasu has an active link in Dpup Exprimo 5X15 here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=548973#548973.
I downloaded it last night and compared it to my copy from when I managed to grab www.iguleder.info/puppy/kernel/linux_kernel-2.6.39-4/packages and /sources, md5sum checked ok.
If you manage to get devx I wouldn't mind a copy for my collection since I didn't always grab one when I tried some pups.
HTH
Jeff

Guy Dog has nice selection of apps, except file manager - thunar or spacefm would be better. This is one good looking Openbox desktop.

Slowly getting there. Added spacefm for now.
Adjusted tint2rc to show all 4 desktops plus made it a little larger. Also included battery time and perc% shown left in tint2rc. Included Day,Date,Month,Time (Military instead of am or pm) in tint2 also. Running xmms along side deadbeef (just because of streaming radio). No moc in here/installed yet. That is another project for later.
Not in a hurry on this one. I am just glad that this all fit on a old throw away 128MB SD card out of a old Broken Kodak camera AND runs on this

And no, lm-sensors and mesa-utils is not a big priority or going to be installed on this setup.

Edit: for anybody that cares. I installed moc through Puppy Package manager as well as moc ffmpeg.
Missing dependency installed through petget from
http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/c/curl/libcurl3-gnutls_7.21.0-2.1+squeeze4_i386.deb
Error in case any interest.

Wow, GuyDog runs much better on my old Thinkpad X24 (256M RAM) than the Lupu 5.1 I had been using, even with GuyDog's better features (Openbox, tint2, wbar). I used to have to scale videos down and use smaller formats to get them to play smoothly, and my processor was frequently maxed out by other programs. But that's rarely the case with GuyDog and I can even play videos full screen no problem. A big thank you to Iguleder.
These are thumbnails, click to view larger. The theme is Owl Light.
Faenza icons, and I replaced the stock GTK icons with Faenza action icons. Figured out how to autohide wbar (set unfocused alpha to 0).
Also installed SpaceFM as file manager. Even sifted through the code of several applications (pmount, filemnt, edit-sfs) to replace the remnants of Rox-filer with SpaceFM. They sure don't make it easy to get rid of Rox...

I will look into this later on after figuring out how to auto start it in Icewm and Fluxbox and JWM in my AntiX installs. It works nice manually left clicking batti file in the folder and I hope
it shows up in tint2 also or maybe wbar as well.
https://code.google.com/p/batti-gtk/
I usually use conky but experimenting with different routes.

An alternative which I have used in LxPup13.10 (pcmanfm) is to make a new rox which simply calls pcmanfm and then make a new Rox which calls the old rox - there are then only a very few places where rox must be replaced by Rox....
Cheers

Yeah, what I had trouble with is the places where rox options are used that SpaceFM doesn't use, like -d and -D. The -d, for opening a directory in rox, could just be removed (it is unneeded, and does something different in SpaceFM). -D in rox closes a directory (when unmounting, for example), and that was trickier. I eventually found that this would work:
Code: | #rox -D $MNTPT
pkill -f $MNTPT #kills spacefm for mounted device |
That closes the tab with the unmounted directory, or closes SpaceFM completely if it had opened automatically when mounting the directory (such as plugging in a flash drive). Now everything works, and I don't need rox at all.
Which is good, since Iguleder removed it... (thanks!)

I've noticed that GuyDog doesn't seem to load the main SFS file into ram when the "pfix=ram" option is used (and pfix=copy, ram doesn't seem to do it either). It ignores the savefiles as it should, but still seems to be running off the USB drive (or CD, or HD), which can't be unmounted. That makes for faster boots, but slower running (and the USB drive has to stay plugged in).
Is that what it's supposed to do? My previous Lupu 5.1 would load completely into ram with the pfix=ram option.
