Precise Puppy 5,7,1 Packard Bell laptop ...no sound

#1 Post by skyblaze »

First a BIG thank you for everyone involved in this distro as it has been a life saver - my Windows os has got a nasty piece of malware which has almost killed it - With Puppy I can actually have a usable machine again - the distro has worked almost perfect straight out of the box...the internet worked after very little set up and the keyboard needed adjusting but that was expected....BUT no sound :(

I followed the wizards and have had no luck in getting any sound to work depsite trying lots of things

I have a modern Packard Bell laptop - can anyone help?

thanks in advance

Hi...

Also, can you open a terminal and post the results of this command...

Code: Select all

lspci
You can also download "sakura" from the Puppy Package Manager, which will make copying and pasting easier.

" I have a modern Packard Bell laptop "

Supply your model number mate.

Plenty of my Fix Windows guides here.

Malwarebytes AntiMalware Free

Hitman Pro

" HitmanPro offers home users a free one-time license,
valid for thirty days, to remove the malicious software that was
found on the computer. "

Some quick links for downloads.
Avira Free...full install here

Configure Malwarebytes to not autostart.
Do not >> New! Try a 14 day trial of our PRO version.

For this use Softpedia

Hitman Pro

It scans over the internet, but is pretty fast.
Uninstall it from Control Panel immediately afterwards.

I usually download from Majorgeeks and the Internode servers they
link to for a fast download.

Do not use CNET.

Hiren's Boot CD and Falcon boot cd are handy

Other versions...

The Falcon's Boot cd has Ccleaner included in Mini Windows,
and can stop startups easily.

Though on some machines it won't see your Windows install....
luck of the draw.

Hi...

There are two separate solutions that might solve your problem, here and here, the latter involving another PackardBell. :)

Hope this helps...
