This is an invitation for focus on an easy puppy derivative, that can be easier to use out of the box.

Puppyes run yes out of the box, and are very copatible whit many machines,
but (from my point of view), if you wont more than the basics, you can, but face fragmentation of the programs. ( some puppy have 3 task manager -for what?)

One of the appreciable effort in this direction is “default program chooser

Have a look at lazy puppy... he seems to do some of the things you mention and may be interested in your suggestions..

Friendly puppies tend to come from users... perhaps you learn and customise it for your friends.
