RSH Account re-activated

#1 Post by RSH »

Hi.

I was just able now to re-activate my RSH Account - needed to have to wait 6 months and re-open the used eMail-Address.

Successfully done!

Now I do have to reply to some PMs... ... ... :o

I just did change the forums password in a non recovery way, deleted my e-Mail Account and had to wait for six months to re-activate the e-Mail address to be able to send a request to get a new password by the forum.

Such request just wouldn't have worked without the used e-Mail address.

Hmmm :? what email provider makes you wait six months to fix an "oops i didn't mean to delete my account..." situation? I don't like that idea...

Hi Starhawk.

Please, don't understand me the wrong way.

- I did decide to change forums password in a way I can't reproduce it
- I did decide to remove my e-Mail account
- and it's a security 'PLUS' (I personally like that much) provided by my e-Mail-provider (gmx.de) to lock such deleted accounts for six months, so no one else can grab it and use it

I'm doing this for several years now.

- needing an e-Mail account ? Opening one.
- receiving to many spam? Deleting it (the account, not the spam).

Mostly in a period of exactly six months and am using the same e-Mail address for years now.

This periodically opening and removing of my e-Mail account was just INTERRUPTED by (LazY) Puppy Linux...

Welcome back RSH.

I too use gmx for email a lot. But I'm not 100% sure about their Facebook integration.

Thank you, Announcer.

So, now you aren't the only one on this forum owning more accounts than just a single one.

RSH, your are an inspired coder, and that had done a lot on Puppy .

Just come down from Paradises, Finals and Dreams .
Don't text too much .
Don't advertise yourself too much like merchant yellers .

Not everyone hates you .
But in regards to that proverb "Who moves first, looses .." -- RELAX, MAN !

My Precise Puppy is already tweaked to my total personal satisfaction.

I have a single clean desktop with a dozen personalised menu/maker/launchers readily available, including three from radky, three from seaside and two from technosaurus. With some of my most used apps loaded from left or right clicks on any free desktop area or tray left clicks - for which my special thanks go to fifty or so forum members for their brilliant help and kindness, even occasionally writing code specifically for me.

I too favour SFS apps and have about ninety (the most popular are launched with a single left click, the others with a double right click) , plus some thirty each of installed pets and Windows/Wine apps and a few Linux portable apps.

I can backup (frequently in well under one minute) and, although rarely needed, usually restore in less than two minutes without rebooting.

I have not used anything provided by RSH, because despite he is indubitably innovative and gifted in designing Puppy forks and code I do not want thirty desktops nor have I needed anything else that he has provided thus far.

My personal view is that Precise Quickpet, from 666philb, Slickpet from 01micko and some menu launchers are ideal for many ordinary mortals new to Puppy. Video tutorials and mainstream updates along the lines of the tutorial made by smokey01 using notecase can also help. Though, sadly, I have no idea what is available to non-English speaking users.

My understanding of how Puppy works is pitiful, but sometimes, after help and guidance, I am able to put to good use what I have largely followed.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my journeys with Lupu, then Slacko and now Precise, all have been rock solid and superb

RSH - to the extent that you can avoid abuse, threats and tantrums; I wish your new project well, exceeding well.
