No fbpanel on MacPup Install to config toolbar

#1 Post by jimwg »

Greetings!

My forum reads are that you need fbpanel to configure the MacPup toolbar with items such as the clock format, but my MacPup install CD as well as my flash install doesn't have any fbpanel, like it was left out like SeaMonkey was. I tried to download the fbpanel.pet file from SourceForge as some linux pages suggest, but it doesn't click install. What must I do? Any tip would be most appreciated!

Thanks for your rapid response!

I am using the MacPup 2.5.9 install. I'm open to be educated for a remedy!

Dunno, never was running MP 520-528 series .
That base Lupu version had OpenBox as default windowmanager , which is said to work quite well with fbpanel .
Never used fbpanel though .
The only xfce Pup I was running was saluki 019 . And what all included there was - dunno .. just knew it worked .

But will reboot into resurrected MP-529 and MP-511 to have a look .

MP-529 both default themes that are shipped with can change the clock settings by right-clicking the clock .

MP-511 main theme not .

I would suggest to make an additional entry into your bootloader configuration file to boot fresh into RAM without savefile :

Code: Select all

title Macpup 529 frugal on sdb1
root (hd0,0)
kernel /M529/vmlinuz pdev1=sdb1 psubdir=M529
initrd /M529/initrd.gz

title Macpup 529 frugal RAM on sdb1
root (hd0,0)
kernel /M529/vmlinuz pdev1=sdb1 psubdir=M529 pfix=ram
initrd /M529/initrd.gz
assuming the internal HD is sda and the USB is sdb .
This applies to grub menu.lst .
extlinux.conf I have no shares in .

Without savefile you should automatically bump into e17 .
There in the main menu choose settings panel and in the top line scroll to the second last entry between files and starter .
There you should be able to click for shelves and add up to 12 of them .
«Give me GUI or Death» -- I give you [[Xx]term[inal]] [[Cc]on[s][ole]] .
Macpup user since 2010 on full installations.
People who want problems with Puppy boot frugal :P
