Frodo 4.1b Commodore 64 Emulator for Fatdog 64 Bit

#1 Post by paulski »

I've had Frodo C64 emulator working in 64 Bit Fatdog for a while now.
Even though the software is a bit old it compiled okay in Fatdog510 and works fine in Fatdog 611

Note: It needs tcl and tk libraries - you should be able to find them in the
fatdog repository

As for my pet give it a try - let me know if it gives trouble -I can't remember if everything required is in there. If it works then feel free to mirror the file somewhere else. I can't say if the link below will be permanent.

O.k., it works. Now how do I get to full screen mode (apparently this is possible with Frodo)?

Honestly I have no idea. It might pay to look at the official website.

I think the originator is planning an update soon - maybe it just might include a full screen option.

I did look there before I even posted. It seems to hint that it would work if SDL is installed, I don't know how to check. I installed the tuxkart pet, I don't know if it helps.

Is there a manual for it? I also want to figure out how to change the cursor colour, on the original C64 I remember a keypress combination with the number keys.

There is a manual in the pet.
If the pet is installed.....

I'm not sure if the program will let you change anything at the SDL end

There are no screen size settings in root/.frodorc

In usr/bin/frodo/TKGui.tcl you might find some settings to hack.. if that's your kind of thing. That's the limit of what I know about it. I'm just happy that it works to dwell in some C64 nostalgia. If I "play" with frodo I often use the version for Nintendo DS (Homebrew) or on a ASUS Eeepc with Pupeee, then the screen size is ideal.
