Is it possible this may be a reason to dump Precise 5.7.1, since the new tor, when extracted per their instructions doesn;t seem to run?

Hopefully someone smarter than I can make a pet and sfs that does work.

Odd, the Tor bundle works fine for me in 5.7.1 as long as the clock is set right on your system. What is the problem that you're having exactly?

hmmm....from the TOR startup script as modified to make it run:

Code:
#if [ "`id -u`" -eq 0 ]; then
#   complain "The Tor Browser Bundle should not be run as root.  Exiting."
#   exit 1
#fi

So, I'mk really confused how you could have gotten it to run w/o modification, unless you run as spot?

Just downloaded the very latest Tor........ it won't run here either.Something has obviously changed.......

EDIT:

Working now as root in Precise 5.7.1.Substituted the "start-tor-browser" script from the prior version. Just remove the ".tar.gz" from the script....not an archive but renaming necessary to upload to forum.
