Tor users advised to 'switch away from Windows'
Re: Tor users advised to 'switch away from Windows'
Is it possible this may be a reason to dump Precise 5.7.1, since the new tor, when extracted per their instructions doesn;t seem to run?tater wrote:Another reason to ditch windows.
Hopefully someone smarter than I can make a pet and sfs that does work.

Odd, the Tor bundle works fine for me in 5.7.1 as long as the clock is set right on your system. What is the problem that you're having exactly?tlchost wrote:Is it possible this may be a reason to dump Precise 5.7.1, since the new tor, when extracted per their instructions doesn;t seem to run?tater wrote:Another reason to ditch windows.

hmmm....from the TOR startup script as modified to make it run:DPUP5520 wrote:[

Code: Select all
#if [ "`id -u`" -eq 0 ]; then
# complain "The Tor Browser Bundle should not be run as root. Exiting."
# exit 1
#fi
Just downloaded the very latest Tor........ it won't run here either.Something has obviously changed.......
EDIT:
Working now as root in Precise 5.7.1.Substituted the "start-tor-browser" script from the prior version. Just remove the ".tar.gz" from the script....not an archive but renaming necessary to upload to forum.
