Hi, is it possible to run precise puppy, either 5.5 or 5.7 on a truecrypted volume?
I have been intending to try this, but im a newbie and im not sure how to execute my plan.
I assume i simply set up Precise as normal and then install truecrypt in precise 5.5 and then tell it to encrypt my USB pen.
will this work? and if so, would i be able to password protect my USB pen drive also?
Also assuming this works, would it mean i could transport very important business documents?
Running Prcise Puppy in a truecrypt USB pendrive
Hello Stef, Welcome! I'd suggest loading your search terms into this engine to get an idea of how it works.
Difficult to say after short reading of http://www.truecrypt.org/ .
You would need the tools for it .
If you use a "recommended" frugal installation, these tools would need to be in the initrd.gz including shared libraries if not static and the code to mount would need to be inserted into the /init script there .

If you are talking about doing a "full system encryption" similar to Windows it is just not possible under Linux OSs, at least not at the present time. I think also what you are talking about would not be possible either because it sounds very similar to a full system encryption and would require truecrypt's bootloader on the usb when the usb is detected which isn't possible either at the present time.

Encrypted pupsave file
Is it not easier to use an encrypted 'pupsave' file or am I missing something here?
