#1 Post by eztuxer »

How about it ?

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/doc ... S/Platform

It would have built in touch screen support for tablets, and get Puppy finally on smartphones...

It would be 1,000,000% impossible. Firefox OS uses it's own kernel while Puppy uses Linux as the kernel.

To totally different worlds here. And plus I can't imagine doing anything on such a tiny screen.

Everything is better on a larger screen (especially movies)

BTW, I can't understand how anyone could enjoy a HD movie on such a tiny screen. It's like you have to squint to see anything.

That is apparently 100% wrong .

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/doc ... troduction
Firefox OS (also referred to by its codename "Boot to Gecko" or "B2G") is Mozilla's open source mobile operating system based on Linux and Mozilla's Gecko technology.
Capturing a screenshot

Capturing a screenshot is as simple as pressing the power and home buttons at the same time. The screenshot image will be in /sdcard/screenshots on your device; you can access it using the Gallery app on your phone, as well.

If for some reason that doesn't work, you can also do it from the terminal on the Linux or Mac OS X computer that has a Firefox OS build system installed.

Make sure you have ffmpeg installed.
On Mac, if you use MacPorts, you can do this with sudo port install ffmpeg. For homebrew, do brew install ffmpeg.
On Linux (Ubuntu/Debian), use sudo apt-get install ffmpeg.
Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
Navigate your phone into whatever situation you want to screenshot.
cd into the B2G/gaia directory
make screenshot
You now have a screenshot called screenshot.png.
But It's not me to woof up a Puppy with FirefoxOS binaries .

The point of Puppy: Debian, Ubuntu, and Slackware is to have a common base for apps.
All Ubuntu apps. I`ve tried in any of the Precise Puppies have worked.
I don`t know what kind of app. base Firefox O.S. has, but why another Puppy?

Puppy use to be an Orphan O.S., no real large base of apps. to speak of...
But now these Puppies are part of various families of O.S.s.

These distro`s apps. need to be made into SFS or RoxApp no-install packages.
This so they`re easily added and removed, and don`t take up Save file space.
RoxApp type packages have the advantage that they don`t use union layers.

The point in Firefox O.S. is to do everything inside Firefox, so it doesn't have apps like Puppy.

disciple; Yes, and there`s advantages to the "browser platform".
Browser apps. are especially nice for programmers, one app. runs in all O.S.s.

But the Q remains the same... Does it have a Handbrake equivalent, etc.?
