puppyprecise 5.6.1 save file

#1 Post by t-no »

Hi all,

On shutdown of puppy precise 5.6.1 puppy doesn't offer me the option to create the save file on my hd.

I tried copying the savefile from usb to hd and rebooting and it still didn't see the savefile.

I also tried the manual save file config app/pet which also did nothing for me.

I finally booted puppy precise 5.5 from cd and it offered me two save files the copied one and the one created by the manual save file config app

Maybe it's my laptop, or a mistake I made somewhere cause I'm not seeing anyone else mentioning this behavior

[edit]
just booted precise 5.5 from usb and again no save file, removed usb stick and rebooted from cd and I had 2 save files again

Likely there is some trouble with the boot parameters .

You should post your boot-loader config file ( grub* menu.lst , sys/extlinux.cfg/conf ) .

For a work around you might look here :

Thanks Karl,

Gave up already, and installed the frugal way and on boot it found the save files again.

But this weekend I will boot up from usb again to try and figure this out

Try using the following method to make a Frugal install to a Flash Drive:
How To Do A USB Install Of Puppy Linux Slacko 5.3.2.4 FAST!
Methinks this method should work for most versions of Puppy Linux.
