I need to know what to buy, as suck it and see is ridiculous. Pls provide a list as requested-pref of modern and current usb devices, with supported encryption types shown. A spreadsheet format would make it easy, or tell me where to find this info and I'll do it for you.

pls help me secure an open wifi network in Slacko-5.5 when [hardware-based?] security is absent, if that is what it is. Surely there's an encryption package with a reasonable software overhead? I'd like WPA-PSK because that's the ONLY security config avail on my tethered fone. thx.

You ask for a list of "encryption capable modern and current usb devices," but don't ALL modern USB wireless dongles support WPA and WPA2?

Also, you do realize that encryption has to be implemented on BOTH ends of the wireless connection, right? The encryption you use with the dongle has to match whatever encryption is being used by the wireless router you are connecting to.
