PostPosted: Tue 25 Jun 2013, 20:09    Post_subject:  Alternative Input and its relation to PuppyLinux

Instead of spamming the forum everytime a product comes out that utilizes one of these input technologies, I figured it would make sense to have a single thread that we can discuss all of these alternative inputs. Not only general talk about these; but how (if at all) these can relate to PuppyLinux.
If you are aware of products that utilize one of these please post it, so we can talk about how that may affect the Puppy Linux Community.

As more information is posted I will update the opening post to include that information.

This is a open community thread, so everyone is free to add input and to voice their opinion and discuss their thoughts on what everyone else has shared.

Lets also keep one thing in mind:
-We develop Puppy Linux.
-We are not Kernel Developers
-We are not Desktop Enviroments or Window Managers Developers
-We are not applications developers (beyond gtk and shell apps)

In order for our community to take advantage of any future advancement in Alternative Input Technologies, we will have to wait until the Upstream developers give us that capability.

So without further ado...

Old and Reliable - Keyboard/Mouse

Touch:
Talked about in this thread: Puppy's Future does NOT depend on Win PCs. It depends on us
Also touched on in the inital post of this thread: Puppylinux on Phone/Tablets: the definitive thread

Gesture:

A report from 2010 that said that gesture would be common place by 2014/15. It looks though that it may take longer for this to catch on. = http://wp.nmc.org/horizon-mu-2010/sections/four-to-five-years-gesture-based-computing/

KeyGlove:

This is basically nothing more than a keyboard laid out over a glove. This may allow a user to input data at a faster rate than a typical keyboard, but it would interface with a computer the same way a keyboard would.
