I know, ECC ram is expensive though. The plan is to have 128gb by the end of the year.

Are you referring to the ASUS Z9PE-D16/2L mb?
I was hoping it was the Beta ...

Yea the "It's Alive" comment was in reference to the computer I've been talking about building for a while. Specs are show in that picture.
We are still waiting on the Beta. Just keep in mind that the longer you wait the better the product will be.

I can't even see the laptop that is waiting on the Beta ... it's hidden under a pile of papers and things ... it helps me to be less impatient if I can't see it!

I looked on your site but i did not see it, but I sometimes miss things by looking too fast. | Fluxbox is not currently supported in Lighthouse. There are a lot of desktops/window managers available however I think Openbox/LXPanel with Rox desktop, the default in Lighthouse 64 and Fatdog 64 is now my favorite, mostly because it is fast, reliable and looks good to me. KDE is my second, however I get impatient waiting for it to load. Fluxbox-1.3.2 is available in PPM, however ~/.xinitrc needs work to actually use Fluxbox, as currently it gets covered up by Rox or JWM. I will try to update for it as time allows, however I don't know about the flux root menus--seem not to be Xdg compliant so might be difficult to refresh when installing apps. In other words the menus won't update automatically although they can be manually configured if you know how to determine what command starts each new app.
@All,
I received the Asus G75 Notebook w/Win8 I ordered and I've been testing 602 (and Fatdog 621) with it. So far UEFI doesn't work properly with either. Boots to console OK, but X won't start, except for choosing the fbdev (generic frame buffer) driver, with very limited resolutions, as with the vesa fallback. If I disable UEFI by enabling CSM (Compatibility_Support_Module) in BIOS setup, then X starts normally. So I'm not encouraged by these preliminary results. It looks like I'll need to update the release notes accordingly. I'm also having some difficulties with the proprietary nvidia driver, though it works in Fatdog. Hope to sort that out before releasing 602.

LH64 is touch screen enabled |
|
@TaZoC
Tested Mariner 601+ on HP Touchsmart TX2.
Desktop touch screen subsystem works, OOTB, for launch/drag-drop/close/etc. Tris includes taskbar and other things I would use a mouse for. Mouse, thus far, is not necessary.
Issue with Touch
Even though touch replaces the mouse for mouse button 1 operations, some apps make use of mouse button 2. Have not found a way to do mouse button 2 functions at this point in time?
Will post should I find other issues.
Thanks, again, for your help and this great work.

Problem with LH64 wireless on HP TX2 Laptop |
|
I am experiencing a connection problem with the "touch" HP when trying to connect to the wireless LAN.
Following collected from terminal commands Code: | bash-4.1# ip addr
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00

3: wlan0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc mq qlen 1000

bash-4.1# lsmod | grep 80211
mac80211 221415 1 b43
cfg80211 173913 2 b43,mac80211
rfkill 14899 2 cfg80211,hp_wmi
bash-4.1# lspci | grep -ie net -e wire
08:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4322 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller (rev 01)
09:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 02) | FRISBEE does NOT show "the close-by" wireless networks
And, "Puppy Network Interface Wizard" yields the following messages on connection attempts:
Main box
"Test"
pop-up box 1
Error!
Failed to raise interface wlan0.
Failed command was: ifconfig wlan0 up
Error returned was:
ifconfig: SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not possible due to RF-kill
Main box
'Unable to connect to a wireless network' ...
Advise.
P.S. Please note, this is not a critical necessity as I expect to use the next version on LH64 on this "touch" laptop.

- Please run this in a terminal:
Code: | cat /etc/acpi/wifi-driver | and post the output. Then use Menu -> Setup -> BootManager -> Services -> enable the BC-wl (Load proprietary Broadcom wireless driver) service -> OK and reboot. If you still can't see any wireless networks please repeat step 1.

Broadcom service added, save-session and rebooted |
|
Wireless Problem is still with this laptop with same symptoms after recommendations followed.
Scenario:- A save-session created on reboot.
- cat command still results "b43".
- Boot Manager now displays, services selected, followed with Broadcom... turned on (shown below)
- system was rebooted, again with save-session
- Frisbee still not showing available networks
- LAN setup also not showing available networks.
This system came with Vista. Can the MS driver be brought to bear or should I wait for next LH64 release?

Is there a way to adjust the savefile time from 30 min in a frugal install?
Tnx

Hi just wondering if Lighthouse puppy is still maintained. even if not by the original developer. It is a great operating system.
i used lighthouse as my main puppy os until development stopped. then when saluki came about I went to that. now saluki is not being developed.
anyway if lighthouse is developed i will start using it again.
DO you recommend I learn how to maintain puppy so I can update and maintain the distro i like myself. It just seems like a lot of hard work to me.

This is one of the best pups ever.

Lol. Some people don't want to use a mouse like a normal person.
As for the answer... gcmartin has several options.
1) ask the kernel devs who wrote the driver (they will tell him to do #2)
2) grab the source code for the driver and look for himself
3) use a mouse like a normal person
