Manna OS-3.4

#1 Post by oldyeller »

Hello Everyone

I have decided to remove Manna OS and will no longer be developing it any further and will be removing the repo.

There is a major bug when using the save button in the usb stick

Hi oldyeller.

I did download your Manna 2.8, yesterday. It boots straight to the graphical desktop without the need to use nouveau.noaccel=1 as a boot option (precise 5.4 did need this as well as MacPup 529). When detecting the optical drives it seems to take a few seconds more to release and also when changing keyboard and language settings at the welcome splash GUI takes really long time to offer option to restart X after settings changed.

Anything else seems to be Ok here.

The missing menu entries are a bit confusing - not only because of such smart Applications like the woof built in LazY FReD * can not be used out of the box.

' really surprising to me...

I did download mainly because I wanted to have a look at your modifications on the PPM, but unfortunately the Manna category didn't offer anything (I did everything as you described to configure/refresh/restart the PPM) - however: I will examine the code though.

Just one thing to say: please, in the name of the Lord, give LazY FReD back to the Manna People! :lol: .

Greetings,

RSH

Hello Everyone, RSH;

here is the code to put the menu full back into Manna This file is in /etc/xdg/templates/_root_.jwmrc this is the one you want

Code: Select all

  <Separator/>

  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-desktop.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-system.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-setup.menu

  <Separator/>

  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-utility.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-filesystem.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-graphic.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-document.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-manna.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-business.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-personal.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-network.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-internet.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-multimedia.menu
  PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-fun.menu

  <Separator/>
replace this over the menu code that starts and ends with the <Separator/> and install a pet and you will have the old menu back along with the upper part that I added.

NOW LazY FReD will be back in everyones few and use :lol: :lol:

As far as the PPM goes here is a pic to look at make sure the (Any Type is showing)

Cheers

Hi.

Regards the PPM:

Seems to be my fault, I'd select both of the Manna categories - then the field was empty. :lol:

To see any of the pets in the Manna category you need to have the any type selected as shown in the above post.

Hello Everyone,

While I was looking at the standard menu I did notice that the mannaeditor had no icon in the menu. I have made a pet to fix that issue.

Hello Everyone,

I have modified installerwb so that it will show up in the Favorites along with BibleAnalyzer and theWord. I also did e-sword.

You can get installerwb-manna2.0.pet here http://www.smokey01.com/Oldyeller/pets/

Don't forget that e-sword is not in the installer you can get it here http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html

If you have wine installed already just delete the BibleAnalyzer, theWord and e-sword.pets; you can install these: they will go into the Favorites menu

Enjoy

I'm a regular Ubuntu based Puppy lover, and what's more your avatar reminds me of my Lab, sadly parted to the Rainbow Bridge, at 13, nearly a year ago. :(
So I'm gonna give your new Pup a try. Sounds great, and versatile etc. I'll let you know how it goes with my bad habits, not to mention electricity cuts when it's stormy (I live in the back of beyond on a mountain, in a 60 person village! And I know I should buy a whatsit, to keep my PC going a little while, and shut down :roll: been saying it for ages :lol: ) Here goes the d/loading.
Thanks for your work, I'm just too lazy at the moment :twisted:

in a 60 person village
Really?

Wow, that's pretty cool!

I live in a town with 200,000 People and I hate it!

I wish I could live there!

Really!

Hello Everyone,

I have been doing some books and making them into pets. I have uplaoded two of them:

A Fourfold Salvation by A.W. Pink
All Joy in All Trials by C. H. SPURGEON

The rest of the books will be up hopefuly between now and July.

I have also worked on e17 that was done by pemasu, fluxbox by dejan555 this pet was compiled for Slacko but it works just fine in Manna OS and openbox by vicmz. All of these are up and in the repo. Just update the PPM to get the new pets.

All these wm's will be usable in Manna OS. they will show the Manna and Favorites Category.

Hope you will enjoy, Cheers

Hi. oldyeller.

I do use pemasu's e17 Window Manager in one my LazY Puppy 3 versions (build in).

When clicking on a icon in the iBar and moving mouse-pointer accidentally it could remove all the icons from the iBar and they seem not to be able to return using e17's configuration tools.

So, I did write a small script to reset the original configuration of the iBar. Unfortunately this will work out of the box only when e17 is loaded at boot up (to find in pup_z) or if build in (to find in pup_ro2).

I will attach the PET for you either to modify it for the use of installed version when using a save file or for the use in a Manna OS with (maybe) build in e17 Window Manager.

Its Menu entry goes to menu Desktop (Category DesktopSettings).

Have fun...

Hi oldyeller.

I've found a solution for another issue with the e17 window manager.

When having a huge number of menu entries (.desktop files, LazY Puppy has) -especially when symbolic links are in /urs/share/applications- in e17, it takes some time to get the menu categories under "Applications".

I have put a little script into /root/Startup:

Code: Select all

# Get current used WM
CURRENTWM="`cat /etc/windowmanager`"
if [ "$CURRENTWM" = "enlightenment_start" ]; then
	sleep 2 # you might want to edit this?
	exec /opt/e17/bin/enlightenment_remote -restart &
fi
After this the menu categories under "Applications" will show nearly immediately - even if there is a huge number of symbolic links instead of real .desktop files in /usr/share/applications (which usually causes remarkable extra delay without that e17 restart script).

Thanks for all of this information. So far I have not had any issues with e17, except that somethings run slower than in jwm, could be that it was not compiled for Manna OS.

Cheers

Hi, oldyeller.

Yes, this might not be the case in Manna OS with no extra applications installed (or another Puppy using the e17 WM), since it doesn't have that huge number of .desktop files. But it could change when installing lots of applications.

LazY Puppy (current used version of mine) has 606 .desktop files. And all of them are symbolic links.

So, the delay to show the menu categories under "Applications" is really (extra) remarkable.

Hi RSH,

I will keep this in mind. I have done a new build with e17 as my default wm and so far all seems to be ok will be testing some more before next release in August.

Hello Everyone,

I have done a remaster of Manna-2.8 which was a woof2 build.

It is 374mb, it has a lot of added pets and changes to the ppm. JWM is no longer in and openbox_plus-1.5.3 is.

Manna Bible Software-3.1.1 is update. get it from the first post.

God Bless and Enjoy
