The driver can be found here:

If i download and make + make install this, it works, but i would like the driver is included in the kernel.

(you have been down that road before, I see) :)

Or U could use ThreeHeadedDog 5.2.8, or Slacko.

If it is any help, Sabayon 13.04 handles it fine.
I just tested it.

More info???

Where are our network gurus??

"

Qualcomm Atheros Publishes New Network Driver

" The Qualcomm Atheros ALX driver supports the new AR8161 Gigabit Ethernet and AR8162 Fast Ethernet wired network adapters.

While this is a Linux kernel network driver, QCA has put this code out under a permissive license so that developers can port this driver to
new operating systems "

"""""""""

https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/8/8/635

" This driver support two new ethernet chipsets:
1969:1091 - AR8161 Gigabit Ethernet
1969:1090 - AR8162 Fast Ethernet

Qualcomm Atheros(QCA) is commiting to fix all bugs found on this driver.
This driver is also permissively licensed thereby enabling developers of
other OSes to cherry pick this driver to port to their OS.

Test including build/install/uninstall/dhcp/ping/iperf/wol/reboot/etc.
is passed on the supported chipsets.

This driver and patch also have addressed all sparse and checkpatch
warnings. "

So, I have these unexplained things that I do periodically, like trying the latest Ubuntu every couple of releases, to see if it has improved any.
Like the eternal optimist that I used to be with Windose, and always disappointed.

I am here to report that the various interfaces I mentioned previously, all work in Ubuntu 13.04.

That's the GOOD news.

As for the rest..
I am glad I have Sabayon.

@Chris,

ar8161 support has been in the kernel since 3.8.

Micko has just released his latest Slacko with 3.10 kernel.

Maybe you could ask him to enable it the next time he recompiles the kernel.

Greetings,

I'm trying to find the module or pet package for slack 5.6 kernel 3.10.5? I tried the pet package alx-2.0.0.6-w5.pet but it didn't work. It was compile for kernel 2.6.32.59.

lspci output:

01:00.0 Ethernet controller Atheros Communication Device 1090 (rev 10)

Can you please advise me how to find the package or module on-line so I can transfer it to my system?

Base on the post below about enabling support since kernel 3.8, would Micko or someone please enable it. It would be much appreciated. I plan to be a slacko user for a long time.

I appreciate all the work that goes into it and the people who dedicate their time to doing it.

Thanks

Please disregard.

I downloaded the latest slacko beta 5.7.

Problem resolved.

Thanks
