The travelmate has 512mb RAM, I use Carolina 007. The rc3 boots fine on a Lenovo T61 (which I use now) and on Asus eee netbooks.

But the post of rg66 gives some hope for the Acer. Maybe (hopefully) I something went wrong on my side. Is it possible for to upload your Carolina 007 iso somewhere where I can download it?

The travelmate needs 007rc3-non-pae iso. You can make one with 007rc iso and 007rc to 007rc3-non-pae delta file. As long as the md5sum checks out it should boot. The delta you need is this one http://smokey01.com/carolina/isos/lina-007rc.iso___lina-007rc3-non-pae.iso.delta. The delta file md5 is d37ccfc54e8e7842e9b21e6d0663c4de. The 007rc3-non-pae iso md5 is de72ecac9bf405b676ccefec8cdf6a2f.

Thanx! I have no clue what went wrong before. But now it works, the Acer has returned to life Smile Smile

(as long as compiz stays unabled but that is a detail. Even cairo dock works well so... as long as you do not mind the stains and scratches on the keyboard and lid the look&feel is that of a Mac, with the price tag of a big mac that is)

and xbmc is working! nice nice nice!!

hi dromeno .... you'll need to add hitchers repo to get iplayer in xbmc

download the zip here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19745842/Repo/xbmc.repo.hitcher/xbmc.repo.hitcher-4.0.0.zip

then in xbmc go to settings, addons ... install from zip file

then after it's installed got to get add-ons and click on the hitcher repository... then install iplayer

some other good repos to add are ...

anarchintosh.repo for icefilms. http://anarchintosh-projects.googlecode.com/files/repository.googlecode.anarchintosh-projects.1.0.1.zip
bstrdsmkrs repo for 1channel films http://repo.gosub.dk/bstrdsmkr/repository/repository.bstrdsmkr-0.0.3.zip
eldorados repo for project free tv https://github.com/downloads/Eldorados/eldorado-xbmc-addons/repository.eldorado-1.0.2.zip

for me wireless is working (also on the travelmate)

XBMC: 666philb thanksfor the repos! BUT... I wish there was a solution to the ip adress problem. BBC will not play outside the UK. PBS only works in the US. etc. etc.

I wonder... is it possible to add some I2P or similar proxy option to Carolina. Does not need to be bullet-proof ToR but just enough to obtain the required identity to legally watch the news of a foreign country.

I can't use Carolina-007rc because frisbee wireless always says invalid password...

I have tried repeatedly to connect via wireless but no success...

I have no problem logging onto my wireless router with any other "puppy" or linux distro ??

Any suggestions ?? Thank You.

You should update to 007rc3 because frisbee was broken in 007rc.

In the mean time, open control panel and click on network button. Click on internet connection wizard and choose yes to disable frisbee. Internet connection wizard will open and click on wired or wireless lan button. Choose simple network setup and see if it works.

why no wireless for me? Kernel difference

rc - 3.2.18-ski and required firmware/driver/module included

rc3 - 3.2.13 and required firmware/driver/module NOT included

for most puppies it is "wl" (Broadcom)

Thank You for the instructions...
I am now able to connect to my wireless router...
Next, as you suggested, I will upgrade from Carolina-007rc to Carolina-007rc3...

Both 007rc and 007rc3 use the 3.2.13-ski kernel. What module is it that you need?

Did wireless work in 007rc?

Pfind does not work correctly in Carolina: the file/action/help menu is not visible. I will ask Zigbert to have a look at it.

I think the C.U.P.S. is outdated, this one most likely gives a problem when printing in landscape format. The new version is cups 1.4.8 if I am informed correctly.

One other question about the packet manager / dependency checker: is it difficult to add an option so that Carolina also tries to locate missing deps in the ubuntu repos? Now it only looks in a couple of puppy repositories .

On the other hand... I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that Pup-Sysinfo worked (it is not in the Carolina repo). Same for snap2 backup.

If you're talking about the menu's in the screen shot below, they only show after a search.

Strange, rc3 is based on rc so if it worked in rc it should work in rc3. Are you using a savefile from rc in rc3? Have you tried it in ram? Did you check that the rc3 md5sum is correct?
