"US International" keyboard definition

What works, and doesn't, for you. Be specific, and please include Puppy version.

"US International" keyboard definition

#1 Post by pjotr123 »

Hi,

How can I give my standard "US" keyboard, the "US International" definition? I need the dead keys in my language (dutch).

I tried first by delving into xorg.conf as in Ubuntu Linux, but to no avail.
I use Puppy 2.02, installed to a hard disk.

Greeting, Pjotr.

I am interested in this also, since I use my keyboard for Irish (Gaeilge.)

After digging deep into the system, I finally found out that I should select the definition "br-latin1-us". That one works. I hope this helps others with the same problem.

And for the developers of Puppy: not all users of the US International keyboard settings are Brazilian! Please change the name of that definition into "US International", as in other Linux distributions.

Greeting, Pjotr.

From lior2b's instructions in this post:
----------------------------------------------------------
These are mine, they configure alt+shift to change mode (like in windows) and light up the scroll lock led while using the second mode:
(don't forget to change "il" to your language code)

Code: Select all

Section "InputDevice"
   Identifier "Keyboard0"
   Driver "kbd"
   Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
   Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "us,il" ### CHANGE il TO YOUR LANGUAGE CODE ###
   Option "XkbOptions" "grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll,caps:shift,altwin:menu"
EndSection
Anyway, you can find lots of tutorials on the net on xorg.conf+xkb...
-------------------------------------------------------

Puppy has got all the required files (not like when that post was made).
I don't know what the "name" for "us international" is. Look on the web, or search through the xkb folder...
