OK, was I the only one who was wondering, "who fell over the power strip this time?!" :P

Forum was down since I got up this morning until a little while ago. What happened?

Was I really the only one? Looked like there were others on the official secondary forum who were saying this one was down...

No, it was down until yesterday afternoon, my time. Probably 6~8 hours altogether. John Murga had to do some repair work to fix it. That's all I know.

Sounds about right -- I'm in NC. Eastern Time. Your late afternoon would be my evening -- if I've got the time zones correct for once...

Seem to remember that the size limit for attachments was lowered not long ago..... may be related.

I thought of that - it's OK for new attachments as you get an error when trying to upload - but if all old attachments over 256KB have now disappeared that's a bit worrying!!

Cheers

John Murga lowered the max attachment size to 256k a while back. I don't know how that might have affected existing attachments that were bigger. I found this attachment which seems to be over a MB.

Hmmm I have some attachments in the Additional Software section which are over 1MB and I cannot download them anymore .
I was able to download an alternative (older but working) sakura .pet of 500+KB though .

I would liked the idea to be informed in forehand for like 14 days if such actions are about to be taken .

Cheers .

Perhaps John would allow someone access to those files who could place them where they can be accessed. I suspect there are items that could only be found on the forum.

Access to older large files is fair enough....BUT...why are y'all putting 1MB files on a forum?

There are numerous locates to put large files without asking Murga to host them...sheesh...you think!!

PS..I forgot about your BACKUP files...

I was thinking about that . It is not a "Tumbling down of the earth" for me, but would had been somehow expectable to announce such re orderings .

If it would be me, I would delete posts of people with less than 100 posts if they did not post in a "solved" thread over 5 years old to save space and make it easier to navigate back .

Hey Thom et al,

Agreed.

no stinkin' backups...well..well..wink

@Karl Godt,

Where is the line?
Is 1 year or 2 years the limit....Mark Ulrich may have an issue with that as his old stuff may be useful (and better) today...who is the moderator for that....yikes!!...unworkable methinks

EDIT: then there is Murga....not much time to peruse all the threads to cull the culprit large files. I wouldn't even ask how much work that would be...yikesX2

I agree, everything that MU did needs to be saved and studied by everyone who ever attempted to build a pup. He is one of the very best. His pups where years ahead of everyone else at the time . Masterpieces !!!!!
