How to format Kingston DataTraveler DTSE9 USB?

Picked up a few of these the other week from TigerDirect and they won't format or allow install of Puppy.

Anyone have one of these and having the same issue?

Live ISO CD, a working thumb drive.
Attempted on 3 different computers

I think Semme means what program did you use to try to format the drives? Did you try Gparted in Puppy? Menu -> System.

I would suggest to *not* use gparted -use the command-line yo we can see the error output. There are only two commands that are needed to create a partition and format it. First, run the following command(with the drive plugged in) so we can see if it already *has* a partition, and if so, what type it is:
fdisk -l

Used Gparted ( older version) Partitioned and Formatted as FAT32.

Booted Puppy Precise 5.4.1 and ran Install
Issue reported that DTSE9 didn't have boot flag checked, checked boot flag and finished install.

Reboot boot from USB - error loading operating system.

Booted Precise 5.4.1 ran Gparted and Partitioned and Formatted as EXT2.
Set Boot Flag
Completed install

Reboot boot from USB - error loading operating system.

Formatted NTFS on Windows 7 machine (not Quick format)
NTFS not supported.. please use ext2/3

How did you complete the install? Were you using Puppy's install wizard or some other way of installing Puppy in a USB flash drive?

The method is probably applicable to most other versions of Puppy.
I expect so.

Any particular Puppy will only boot successfully on any particular hardware if the kernel includes drivers for that particular hardware.

After install, you probably need to boot the live disk and adjust your *pmedia* kernel parameter..

Got it to work..

Took me a bit of time since work and other events kept me away from this project.

Downloaded and installed the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool :

Running as Administrator, and using Fat32 (Format denied as NTFS - Write protected).

Installed Puppy with default values -skipping the GParted to make bootable.

On attempt to boot it failed. Went back and ran GParted and set the boot flag.

Booted fine.
