Puppy 2.10, Gxine and Real Audio

#1 Post by rcrsn51 »

I just upgraded to Puppy 2.10. When I now try to play a Real Audio stream in Gxine, it claims that it is missing the library file cook.so.6.0. I went to a machine that still has Puppy 2.02 and found the file in /usr/lib/win32. I copied it to my new version. Gxine will play the stream briefly but aborts after a few seconds. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem after upgrading from 2.02 to 2.10. I did try removing and reloading the xine_extra_codecs using the PupGet package manager, but that didn't help.

Gxine problem (solved)

#3 Post by aussie »

Same problem with Gxine(v 0.5.7), error loading library file cook.so.6.0. Gxine (v 0.4.6) in mean puppy-2.02-opera no problems.

Edit

Did the same as "vern72023", copied over the missing win32 folder from mean puppy 2.02-opera to 2.10-seamonkey, all now fixed :D

Puppy 2.10 does not seem to have the dir /usr/lib/win32
extra codecs would be in that dir

my codecs are on another drive, i symlinked the dir to /usr/lib/win32 and gxine seems to play realplayer audio, from the bbc anyway

For Those Who Can't

#6 Post by theinfamousj »

So, I suddenly realized that I was facing the bug seen here and then realized that I didn't have a separate computer to pull off the /usr/lib/win32 folder. After some begging and pleading, I managed to get someone to boot into Puppy for me so that I could pull off the folder.

I compressed the folder (you'll have to uncompress) to make just one file, so that those who are in my situation can have the folder.

Enjoy. - J -

I also upgraded recently to 2.10 and wanted to listen to the BBC with Gxine. No cook.so 6.0 and hence no BBC. You're fix works fine. Thanks.
