Sound works in Puppy 5.2, not in RacePy (Solved)

#1 Post by igorraven »

My computer uses a Intel 82801H card (or chip) for sound. My speaker jack worked with Puppy 5.2 but not with RacyPy. Can I swap 5.2 module into RacyPy?

Puppy sound wizard is no help

more info

I installed Precise-5.4.3.iso on the same computer and the sound jack works.
It show the the system using ( card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: [Stac92xx Analog] ) as its driver.

Can I add this driver to RacyPy?
If not, how might I get the sound to work in RacyPy?

Again Thanks for the help and these Great Linux tools. They are slick!

Thank you
Igor

I don't know the answer to your question. Where did you find our about RacyPy? The developer of RacyPy is who is most likely to be able to answer your question. If there is a thread about RacyPy in the Puppy derivatives section, you might get more response by asking your question in that thread.

You could try comparing what modules are loaded in 5.2 and see if they are also loaded in RacyPy

This command with listl loaded modules in 'snd' in their name

Code: Select all

lsmod | grep snd
you probably need the module snd-hda-intel AKA snd_hda_intel

also compare the audio config files in
/etc/modprobe.d

My problem has been fixed ;-)

New version ( puppy_racy_5.3 ), very very slick.

Installs with out issue. Comes configured with Python 3.1, Scheme, GNU Bash shell and Scala on the DeskTop. Some comprehensive tutorials on several programming languages and the Puppy environment.

Thank you to the

Puppy Linux family
