[SOLVED] Network scan error with AR9285 Subject description: ifconfig: SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not possible due to RF-kill |
|
Hi!
Precise 5.4.3 network scan with AR9285 gives me an error:
| Code: |
Error!
Failed to raise interface Wlan0.
Failed command was: ifconfig wlan0 up
Error returned was:
ifconfig: SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not possible due to RF-kill
|
Puppy network wizard detects the AR9285 as wlan0 with ath9k.
"rfkill list" gives:
| Code: |
0: hp-wifi: wlan
Soft blockes: yes
Hard blocked: no
1: hp-bluetooth: bluetooth
Soft blockes: yes
Hard blocked: no
2: phy0: wlan
Soft blockes: no
Hard blocked: yes
|
The Notebook from HP has a f12/wifi button. It has effect on the "hard blocked" entries of points 0 and 1, but not 2.
Is there any solution?
Bye
Olaf

I have tried both a few hours before; have found that in an other forum-topic. Nothing changed.
I have boot Suse SLED, WLAN works: the f12 key has the correct function (wireless on/off), the Light/LED on the f12-button changed from red to blue, then it works.
But when I boot the Notebook (HP 635), the LED is always red, and change to blue when Suse is bootet.
I think puppy does not work correct with the f12-key.

Found the solution (hope so...):
Bios -> System Configuration -> Action Keys Mode -> change from "Enabled" to "Disabled" -> save -> boot puppy -> press fn+F12 -> Wireless Wizard -> scan -> .... it works!
This changed the way of using the F-keys from directly press F1/F12 to "fn + F1/F12".
I do not know why. Perhaps someone has the same problem and found this topic.
Bye
Olaf

Hi audith
Welcome to the forum. Now this thread has been marked solved by the OP I recommend you start a new thread. Try to include as much information as possible, for example-
* which puppy version you are using
* what hardware you have - especially wifi chipset
* what procedures you have carried out already to attempt connection
you can get detail hardware info by going to
PuppyMenu > System > HardInfo
Network device will probably be under Devices > PCI Devices
