Well no it isn't, actually, it's bigger. When rebuilt in to an xz compressed sfs it is about 5% (TBC) bigger. More later..
EDIT:
here we go, with en_GB langpack and helppack installed in sfs (xz compressed both)
Code: | # stat -c %s LibreOffice-3.6.4_en-GB_xz.sfs
144326656
# stat -c %s LibreOffice-4.0.0_en-GB_xz.sfs
150409216
| which is just over 4% bigger.
Seems to work fine .

in LibreOffice 3.5 saving .doc with form tables broke the fields and checkboxes
but in LibreOffice 4.0 can save the document and works for a while. But after a few saves it breaks again.
Anyone know how to avoid this?
see images for example

I've requested permission to access your file. Is it a standard packaging of libreoffice 4.0 ?

May be a lot easier to simply use get_libreofficce.pet
Not nearly as exciting.....but it works

Hi recobayu et al,
See the second post in this thread from 01micko re:
"LibreOffice-4.0.0_en-GB_xz.sfs" which I have and which
works well in Precise 5.4.
However, I have two minor observations:
Despite the GB in the title it opens with US English - though
that is easily amended.
Also, the version number accessed via Help is very slow in
appearing though once loaded the app seems to operate quickly
in other respects. Perhaps this is in some way related to any
compression process/es.
My regards
