Puppy_Crypt_Precise

#1 Post by DPUP5520 »

Puppy Crypt Precise has been finished and is being released for use to the Puppy community.
Puppy Crypt Precise is a new Puppy Crypt which is based off of Barry's Puppy Precise 5.4.3. Some old programs have been removed from the old Puppy Crypt such as JAP (JonDo Proxy) and some new apps added such as CorkScrew and Onetime. All apps which have remained from the last Puppy Crypt have been updated (with the exception of PSIP and LSHW).

Yee Ha,
I've been waiting for this.

Tried Liberte' yesterday. Very impressed.
I just know this will be even better than Liberte'.

Thanx.

Welcome to the second generation of Puppy Derivatives! :D
You have released a derivative based on a Puppy version made from the latest Woof2, that means non-English speakers will be able to use your derivative thanks to the official language packs available for Puppy, which at the moment are: French, German, Indonesian, Polish, Russian, Turkish, and Spanish. Here you can read some documentation on how translations are made. Usually translators know how to adapt the langpacks for compatibility with Woof2 Puppy derivatives, but you can also help by telling what files or programs need translations.

Added MD5 hash in first post, still need to post full program list when I get a chance.

-Vicmz I'll get you a list of apps when I can.

-kooliepup I've tried Liberte' and I like the hardened Gentoo Kernel and security enhancements in it but I don't like the fact that they exclusively use Tor.

You have done well with this, again.

If only I could remaster it.

Problems downloading

#7 Post by P123 »

I tried downloading this .iso file yesterday & I have tried twice today with no success.

The error message says that the download was stopped by the network because it was taking too long to download.

That's interesting.
I had to get it in 5 segments with WGET because it kept stopping.
No error messages given, and the speed was fine.
I thought it was a local ISP problem.

I switched out server links on the first page for the ISO so now Puppy_Crypt will download from smokey01.com and there shouldn't be anymore errors or problems and you should get decent download speeds.
It can still be remastered (the older one cannot though), however I don't recommend it as adding or removing anything could possibly compromise the security of the system.

Any chance of including Frisbee, I can't get on the net without it? Maybe a security feature
; -)

Yea I'll get it put together asap and put it up here.

*Edit: Added very slightly modified version of Peebee's Precise Frisbee Pet for Puppy_Crypt

Download and find it working smoothly and very useful. However Asian characters were NOT displayed correctly in Firefox (only displayed a bundle of unreadable symbols and this is very annoying). I strongly suggest you add Google Chrome browser as another browser choice since it can display nearly all languages correctly and it is also very fast. Thanks.

Please don't add Chrome. I'm sure that there are numerous webkit browsers out there that are better for privacy. *SRWare Iron for instance*
but I don't think that people should just sacrifice their anonymity over anything.

What is your language? You can install the fonts for all browsers to display your language:

Chinese, Japanese, Korean

Devanagari (India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka)

Thai, Lao

IF the adding of Chrome really means a sacrifice for anonymity, then I will certainly agree NOT to add it. Thanks.

Wow sorry I don't check Murga every day anymore and didn't realize anyone had posted here. Every choice that went in to Puppy Crypt was made after careful consideration of anonymity, privacy, and encryption of the programs used. As vicmz said additional fonts can be easily added in for the browsers/word processors.
